Marathi, Kannada films to premier at International Film Festival of India in Goa
A Marathi and a Kannada film would premier at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011, to be held in Goa.
Bhageerathi, a Kannada film, and Marathi film Bharat Mazha Desh Aahe will feature in the Indian Premier Section of the festival, said the spokesperson of Entertainment Society of Goa, the nodal agency.
Bhageerathi is directed by Dr Baraguru Ramchandrappa while Bharat Mazha Desh Aahe is directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar.
IFFI would be held from November 23 to December 3.
The inaugural function of the 10-day festival would be held in Margao, 35km from capital Panaji.
Bhageerathi is based on a kannada folk ballad, Kerege Haara (a sacrifice for a tank).
Bharat Mazha Desh Aahe (India is my country), starring veteran Vikram Gokhale and Uttara Bavkar, is a story of a joint family, experiencing declining values.
