45th International Convention on Quality Control Circle held in Dhaka

The 45th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2020), organized by the “Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management (BSTQM)” was held in Dhaka at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel from 1st to 3rd December. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has inaugurated the event where more than 250 teams from different countries including China, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka took part in competition.

A.M.M. Kahirul Bashar, President of Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management (BSTQM), said, “ICQCC is slowly gaining importance as a global event with the main goal of this conference, to inform the participants about the latest progress in quality and to further improve the QC Circle activities through mutual benches identifying global movements and initiatives in different countries.”

This unique opportunity to promote future activities will add value for everyone related to QC circles.
The organizing committee of ICQCC-2020, invited quality practitioners, managers, facilitators, and quality teams to submit case studies on the convention themes.

Participants from many reputable manufacturing companies, including Fakhruddin Textile Mills Limited-URMI Group and Kiralskar Toyota Textile Machinery Pvt. Ltd, have presented their innovative ideas for quality development of the textile industries. Urmi Group presented a case study on “Reduce reprocess of Elastane-Polyester fabric (A Kaizen Initiative from the Textile Unit of URMI Group).”

Biplob Barua, General Manager-Strategic HR at URMI Group, also Joint Secretary of BSTQM, said, “This is my new journey with Urmi Group’s QC teams on this international platform. When I see the bottom line employees show off their innovative ideas and enjoy the team’s performance.”
