Team Group’s Director fell victim of COVID-19

A shade of gloom has descended upon business organizations affiliated with Team Group. Everyone is in shock as they heard the news of their director Md Abdul Wadud’s sudden demise. The unassuming ever-smiling hard-working skilled entrepreneur finally gave in to the silent killer Coronavirus. Since it first emerged in Wuhan, China in late 2020, COVID-19 has spread across the globe, affected millions of people and killed over 350000 people.

Abdul Wadud who had come down with the virus was undergoing treatment at Regent Hospital in Uttara (in the capital) and breathed his last there in the early hours of Wednesday, said people close to his family. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, all of whom, together with their driver, tested corona positive on May 7. However, all but Wadud recovered successfully.

“We feel sorry. Everyone is in shock. We cannot talk to anyone. So, we are unable to inform you (this correspondent) about his family members, educational background and other information,” a person in Team Group’s office replied to this correspondent on phone in a soft broken voice. However, he promised to e-mail the information seeker later.

“Bangladesh has lost a skilled entrepreneur in the textile sector,” reads a Facebook post written to pay tribute to Abdul Wadud following his death. “May his soul rest in peace and Allah grant him Jannat,” reads another Facebook post. Friends, acquaintances and well-wishers offered condolence over Wadud’s death and expressed sympathy to his bereaved family members.

They also prayed for the salvation of the departed soul. A diversified business conglomerate Team Group started its journey in 2009 as a garment manufacturing company and has now concerned in knit, woven, sweater, shirts, blouses, denim, jackets, trims, pharmaceuticals and retails. It achieved compliance certificates from different renowned organizations including Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
