Production for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially underway in New York City and Anne Hathaway is already dropping plenty of easter eggs about what the plot might be. It all started on Monday when the actor shared a TikTok captioned with the words, “Heading to werk # dwp2”. In the video, Hathaway swoops into frame while brushing her teeth while getting ready in the morning, wearing none other than a cerulean blue knitted sweater.
For fans of the original movie, the reference is obvious, but when coupled with the images now captured of Hathaway on the streets while filming as Andy Sachs, it starts to paint a picture of what may happen in the sequel film.
All we know so far is that the core cast is returning, and that Miranda Priestly is dealing with an ailing publishing industry, while Emily is absolutely thriving at an LVMH-style brand. We also know that the real villain, Nate (played by Adrien Grenier), won’t be returning for the sequel.
But other than those vague hints, we’re left to interpret the easter eggs left by the cast. So, ahead, we break down every juicy little hint.
The Cerulean Sweater

For the uninitiated, it might seem insignificant that Anne Hathaway wore a particular coloured sweater in her own bathroom, but it’s not just blue, it’s not turquoise, and it’s not lapis — it’s actually cerulean. And that is important.
Because while you may be blithely unaware that in 2006, Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly delivered a scathing monologue to an unsuspecting Andy Sachs in the Runway Magazine offices, we are not. And not knowing that piece of trivia doesn’t exempt you from experiencing the excitement we did when seeing her post this brief but important video.
The Runway Bag

When Hathaway stepped onto the New York streets to film a scene for The Devil Wears Prada 2 on July 21, one detail immediately caught our attention. No, it wasn’t the phone glued to her hand or the bucket hat that would have made Mia Thermopolis proud. It was the garment bag with Runway emblazoned on the front.
It hadn’t yet been confirmed whether Andy Sachs was heading back to an ailing Runway to assist Miranda Priestly (or whether that’s where she’s been since we last saw her) but this feels significant.
The Chanel Boots Sandals

Are those… the Chanel Dad Sandals? While we may not know exactly what Andy’s work outfits will look like, we do know that she still has a habit of mixing high with low fashion.
In one scene, Hathaway was spotted wearing a light wash denim maxi skirt with a white tank top, and a black and white vest layered over the top, while in another, she opted for a blue boiler suit and black leather bag with mixed metal hardware. But in both, she wore the chunky Chanel Dad Sandals in a black tweed fabric, which feels like a subtle callback to her iconic post-makeover scene in the original film.
