Are There Going to Be Fits in the NBA Bubble? Oh, Yeah, There Are Going to Be Fits

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t having more stuff sent [laughs]. The thing is, I do so much shopping. A bunch of brands send me pictures, designers send me pictures. Once I see stuff I’m like, “Yeah, send it, send it.” I got the address and they just send it.

When the games start, I’ll be doing me, man. I’ll do P.J.. I’ll do stuff I’ve always done my entire career. I played in Europe, and no matter where I am, it’s just part of me. My style is part of my lifestyle and part of my preparation to get ready to play in the game. It’s my preparation for life, I should say. Everyday I have to get dressed. I can’t just throw on something and walk out and say, I’m not going to see anybody today. I see me.

For Troy Daniels, it’s “fashion over NBA”

The other day I saw a couple teammates from the Lakers—Jared Dudley, Lebron [James], and AD [Anthony Davis]. They were walking back from lunch and saw me, and Jared looked at me and said, “Bro, where are you going? You got a whole outfit on!” I said, “Bro, I’m literally going to the lunch room, but I just like to look good. You know I like to stay fly.” Guys already know that TD has to have his fits.

Packing was tough. I know about Orlando in the summertime, so I knew I wasn’t going to pack hoodies or anything like that because—it was just shorts and some vintage T-shirts here and there. I brought three suitcases: one for shoes, one for clothes, and one for a mixture of clothes and shoes. I actually got a lot of stuff shipped to me once I got here, too. I have maybe 20 percent of my wardrobe with me right now. I just got another care package the other day with tons of clothes, so I can’t wait to start throwing outfits on and taking pictures for no reason.

To be honest, I didn’t even think about the modified dress code when packing. I was going to bring and wear what I really wanted to wear anyway. I feel like anything I want to wear they are going to approve of.

If the NBA wants to be real technical with the dress code, they can be, but it really didn’t matter to me to be honest because it’s fashion over NBA.

Fashion is part of me. Even during the regular season when everything was back to normal, I would wear outfits just to wear them. I like looking good. It goes all the way back to when I was a little kid and my mom used to throw me in three-piece suits. That just makes me feel good, and when I feel good I might play good.

I’ve been to the postseason maybe five times, and I’ve never been out of the first round of playoffs. So for me, my mindset is I’m going to get my fits off in the first round and then in the second round I might play around and be like, “You know what? I’m wearing all suits. I don’t care how hot it’s going to be.” I’d like to play around with different rounds. One round might be totally different than the last one.
