‘Bangladesh Solar Week Awards 2022’ announced

Solar Quarter organized a day-long conference and award show titled ‘Bangladesh Solar Week 2022’ on September 14, 2022, at Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka. It was an unconventional event where visionary entrepreneurs, policymakers, and top-level management of different industries were present.

This event provides a 360 degree outlook of the Bangladesh Solar Sector. The conference witnessed an excellent dialogue between the industry’s key stakeholders.

Dipal Chandra Barua said, “Bangladesh aims for 2.3 GW of solar energy this decade. Government of Bangladesh has set a target to generate 40% of its electricity from Renewable Resources by 2041, while aiming to reduce pollution from power generation and to protect the environment. Solar accounts for 546MW of generation capacity in a nation.”

In terms of Bangladesh’s perspective – rooftop solar PV projects are the best source of green energy source out of the huge amount of empty roofs. In addition, Bangladesh’s textile and apparel factories alone have around 12.80 million square meters of rooftop space that have the potential to generate at least 350 MW of electricity.

Md. Mohin Habib, said that the country has the potential to generate more than 4,000MW of electricity with rooftop solar plants.

The energy transition is larger and quicker in Bangladesh. Business strategies need to be dynamic and requires right information for decision-making. The program features a wide range of insightful discussions on business strategies adopted by leaders of both the Rooftop and Utility sectors for sustainable growth.

‘Bangladesh Solar Week Award 2022’ was presented in the event to recognize and honor some of the major players in the Bangladesh Solar Industry. The award ceremony was a platform that focused on the best corporates, technologies, projects, innovations, teams and leaders which have set an example in the Bangladesh Solar Industry for others to emulate and learn from.
