Connor Storrie And I Are Both Obsessed With This Longwearing Gel Skin Tint By Milk

If you’re anything like me, your brain has been dominated by Heated Rivalry since late last year—and its two breakout stars, Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams. The pair walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes last night, and while we loved Storrie’s Saint Laurent suit, it was his angelic, glowing complexion that stood out amongst the beauty looks of the evening.

Every Heated Rivalry fan has a secret preference for Ilya or Shane, and I tend to lean Ilya. There’s something about those Greek god curls, that Greek god body, and that stilted Russian charm that tickles me. So imagine my delight when I discovered Storrie is also a fan of my favourite complexion product—the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Hydrating Gel Skin Tint ($69).

Storrie’s makeup artist, Candice Birns, posted to Instagram breaking down his look. “When it comes to red carpet, complexion is everything,” she wrote, explaining that she started his base with a small amount of an unreleased complexion product around his eyes to brighten before following with none other than the Hydro Grip Hydrating Gel Skin Tint for the sheer, natural, skin-like finish she was after.

While men’s makeup is certainly more accepted now, there still tends to be a preference for undetectable coverage, and the Milk Hydro Grip Skin Tint is the perfect product for exactly that. I was introduced to it mid-last year and quickly fell in love.

As someone with dry skin, I tend to gravitate towards tinted moisturisers. Sadly, however, when Sydney humidity hits 100% some of my favourites that are delightfully balmy in winter feel about as pleasant on my skin as Clag paste. I do not have this issue with Milk. The Hydro Gel Skin Tint is just that—a water-based gel containing ingredients found in the rest of the brand’s Hydro Grip range: a non-comedogenic formula with three molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, squalane, and aloe water that give the skin a deep moisture boost while creating a glossy, weightless, and genuinely skin-like finish.

This gleams rather than glitters, emulating the look of truly fresh skin and leaving a veil of medium coverage behind. Because it’s water- rather than oil-based, it’s as long-wearing as the other Hydro Grip products and won’t cause issues for oilier skin types.

I was equally thrilled that Birns followed a look for pale princesses that I’ve come to love for summer. She finished with a pinkish lip balm (Balmade Electrolyte Tinted Lip Balm), some brow gel, and a dash of bronzer. The look was fresh and believably sun-kissed.

While Birns skipped powder, I like to keep my T-zone slightly more matte, so I finish with a little bit of Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting and Smoothing Powder through the T-zone and a spritz of my favourite Morphe setting spray.

I have pressed this blue tube into everyone on the ELLE team’s hands and wholeheartedly recommend it as a go-to base product for summer. If it’s giving Connor Storrie that kind of glow on the Golden Globes red carpet, it’s certainly good enough for whatever summer throws at us.
