Controversial opinion, but I don’t love wearing sneakers. Somehow, the shoes look so cool on everyone else, but the moment I slide them on, my entire outfit feels frumpy. Of course I still own and wear them—they’re incredibly comfortable, after all—but after adding the shoe style Gigi Hadid just wore to my wardrobe, I’ve started to wear my sneakers less.
Hadid seems to be a loafer loyalist (like Katie Holmes and me!). In fact, the model has been rocking the practical-yet-stylish shoes for years, and I totally understand why. Not only are they actually comfortable, but the classic style can elevate a simple pair of jeans or, as Hadid proved when she wore them with the chicest leather bomber, add to an outfit’s already-cool vibe. When I think of loafers, I think of G.H.Bass. That’s why last year, when I decided to finally buy a pair, I grabbed the Whitney Weejuns. The loafers are easily the most-worn shoe in my entire collection, and it’s because they’re easy, stylish, and can handle a long walk (I did three miles in them just a few weekends ago). The silhouette is classic—I feel like I can wear them with everything—and the leather really holds up well. While these do take a second to break in, I think it’s well worth it.

Hadid has actually worn Reformation’s leopard-print Agathea Chunky Loafers (though, this is a new iteration of the style), so of course they made my list. Leopard print has been everywhere this year, and I love how this shoe lets you subtly incorporate the trend into your wardrobe while also elevating everything you wear it with. I have shoes in this print and swear they make jeans and a white T-shirt look cool.

If your style leans more feminine or cutesy, I think you should opt for a T-strap loafer like this pair from Sam Edelman. The school girl-inspired style, which features an elevating gold buckle, has a preppy look, with shoppers writing that the sophisticated-yet-girly shoes give Gossip Girl vibes. Of course, it’s also worth noting that these are comfortable, with fans praising the shoe’s thick, cushioned insole.
