H&M Head in India resigns citing personal reasons

Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) Head of India Janne Einola has left the job after serving 23 years with company. During his time in India, Einola constructed H&M’s business from the ground up. He was the head of its India operations since H&M’s entrance into the market in mid-2015.

His parting comes at a challenging time when apparel brands/retailers along with H&M in India are fighting downward sales from CIVID-19 pandemic.

“For the past 5 years, he has driven India’s fast expansion and locally relevant customer experience, gut has now decided to move on for personal reasons. He will be taking a break before deciding on the next course of his professional life”, H&M management said in a statement.

Janne Einola worked diligently and aggressively expanded H&M India with 50 stores. Not to mention, its deal with Myntra.com has proved to be a big success for the Swedish retailer in India. Where Einola was key figure.

For example, H&M’s Rs 2.2 million of sales and was forward among all the international brands in the first 48 hours of Myntra’s mega discounting event in June, right after India permitted e-commerce companies to trade non-essential items including fashion and lifestyle products.
