HULT prize at BUTEX: Crafting future leaders of change

Few organizations are as prestigious and internationally renowned as Hult Prize Foundation. Hult prize foundation is a community transforming youths into ‘Agents of Change’ for the betterment of the world. They pave the way for youths by providing them impact-focused programs, events, training and the reputed US $1,000,000 global startup prize via the Hult prize flagship competition, known commonly as Hult Prize.

The birth of this phenomenon goes way back to 2009. Sparked by the idea to give students around the world a platform to have a sustainable and profitable impact, Hult International Business School MBA student Ahmad Ashkar founded a company.

He later convinced Hult’s President, Dr. Stephen Hodges to begin hosting startup events on each of Hult’s five global campuses around the world with a focus on the creation of a new kind of business which was dubbed, ‘the impact enterprise.’

In 2010 after one meeting with Bertil Hult, the Hult Prize Foundation was born. In the same year in March, Ahmad Ashkar is the founder and CEO; along with others launched the Hult Global Case Challenge, later renamed as the Hult Prize.

Today, the Hult Prize is one of the world’s most acclaimed entrepreneurship programs operating on more than 2000 university campuses in 121 countries with a global team of more than 30,000 staff, student volunteers, and change-makers.

Former US president Bill Clinton, Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus; scholars, renowned personalities have joined in solidarity with leading a generation to global change. In just over a decade, the foundation has deployed more than $65M into the impact sector which helped create Hult Prize alumni winners have been recognized in global ‘Forbes 30 Under 30’.

It is continuing to be a disruptive global leader in education, soft skills training, and entrepreneurial development for the 21st century.

In solidarity with Hult’s vision around the World, Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) has been organizing ‘HULT Prize On-campus BUTEX’ since 2018. It has upheld the reputation of the HULT prize, hosting 2 On-campus programs of 150+ teams in each; judged by the finest corporators and scholars and conducting realm broadening and enriching sessions with prominent global personalities

This year, Hult Prize at BUTEX 2021, will be its 3rd of its term successively. The pandemic situation has been forced to accept ‘The New Normal’ as this year’s on-campus program will be happening online. The program is set to happen from October 28.

Hult Prize at BUTEX is currently in motion before the Big Event and creating a lot of buzzes not just among the students of BUTEX but also around the country. They have organized the Friendship Day Collaboration program on Friendship Day with campus ambassadors of different universities around the world to connect the students globally.

They have already organized enriching 3 mega sessions with keynote personalities like Hult Prize global finalist Mazbahul Islam, reputed internationals such as Shivam Tiwari, Fedi Regaeig, Lee Swee Lin, Hamdi Bin Elmi, etc.

Two boot camp has been held where the art of business and business case has been explained. The number of participants at this session and boot camps is enormous. It does not stop there. Hult Prize at Butex is planning to hold sessions about Pitching & design thinking, Making presentations, Finance & marketing strategy and many more.

The Submission of the 1st round will be closed on October 28, following the announcement of the top 21 teams on November 1, 2020. The grooming sessions for the teams will be held from 17-19 November. The Semi-final is expected on November 25 and The Grand Finale of Hult Prize at BUTEX 2021 is expected on December 13, 2020.

Hult Prize at Butex has already partnered with Bohubrihi, Interactive Cares, Bidyanondo Foundation, People’s Radio 91.6 FM for the event.  They are hoping to make this event successful to give textile sectors disruptive global leaders in entrepreneurial and socio-economic development for the 21st century.
