Every year, I look forward to the return of warm weather for one major reason—the prospect of swapping my pants for cute dresses. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always felt the most like myself in a dress or a skirt. I find jeans restrictive and uncomfortable (with the exception of a few pairs) and, most importantly, dresses just suit my sense of style more. Plus, I don’t discriminate when it comes to dress styles. Curve-hugging minis, flowy maxis, slinky slips, flouncy babydoll silhouettes—I have tried (and loved) them all. In other words, I’m something of an authority on dress shopping.
That’s why I was so excited to test out a few of Abercrombie’s spring and summer dresses, which are popular on TikTok thanks to the brand’s affordable price point and wide range of trendy, flattering styles. I’m a relatively new fan of the brand since testing a few pairs of jeans, and I was curious if other categories would live up to my expectations after I was blown away by the quality, comfort, and fit of the denim. Spoiler alert: Abercrombie’s dresses are just as good, and you can snag my favorite styles on sale for less than $60.

When I came across this darling dress on the Abercrombie website, it was love at first sight. It combines three of my favorite trends from the past couple of years—polka dots, a drop waist, and a bubble hem. The result is the perfect little dress that’s equal parts playful and romantic, made for summer date nights, parties, and brunch with your besties.

When I first put it on, I was relieved to find that it far exceeded my expectations IRL. The smocked back ensures that it’s comfy and not too tight while still delivering that waist-cinching effect, and the full skirt gives it such an impactful silhouette. I also love that it comes with attachable straps for when I want to change up the look or need a little extra support. I’m traveling to Italy later this month, and this dreamy dress is definitely making it on my packing list.

For my next dress, I decided to step out of my comfort zone a bit and try this black knit maxi style. Now, I know this may seem like a pretty basic dress to most; however, I hardly ever wear black, and I wasn’t sure if I would like how the ruched tube top looks on me. That being said, I’m pleased to report that this dress surprised me in the best way.

First and foremost, the knit fabric is so soft and stretchy while still providing plenty of sculpting support, so I felt super comfortable despite the strapless style. I can tell that the flowy skirt will be breezy and cool on hot summer days, yet the material still has a formidable, high-quality feel. This dress made me feel so chic and elegant, and I’m already envisioning styling it with ballet flats, a slicked-back bun, and a cardigan tied around my shoulders.

Finally, I had to try the A&F Mara Strapless Denim Mini Dress, a customer-favorite bustier style that exudes classic Abercrombie vibes. This adorable fitted mini dress made from the brand’s signature stretchy denim is exactly the kind of dress middle school me would have begged my mom to buy when we passed the Abercrombie windows at the mall.

I appreciated how the zipper closure and flexible fabric made this bodycon dress easy to slip in and out of without the hassle of having to undo buttons and wiggle into rigid denim. Contrary to how it may look, this flirty, flattering little dress is just as comfortable as the other two styles I tried. I love the summery vibe of the white denim, and I can’t wait to wear it on beach trips this summer; I have a feeling it will pair perfectly with tan lines, wet hair, and flip flops.
