Olivia Wilde, of Don’t Worry Darling directorial fame, stepped out at a Zimmermann summer soiree in Mykonos on June 17. Her dress for the occasion was a black, breezy, backless halter gown with a plunging neckline, plucked from the Australian label’s Summer Swim 2025 collection. Silk and with draping at the waist and cut-outs at its sides, the 41-year-old was the star of the event. I may be biased in my love for it because I, too, wore this dress to my brother’s wedding a month ago.
I know what you’re thinking. Black to a wedding? (I asked the bride if it was OK to wear the darker hue and she was more than fine with it.) The dress code was ‘lakeside cocktail’ and the gown—floor-length and flowing–was dressy enough for a wedding, but cocktail-coded enough in its design for a waterside venue. When I say I was complimented on the dress many times, I’m being honest—even at the risk of sounding completely self-absorbed.
Not one to gatekeep, and not sponsored to say any of this, I’ve linked Wilde and my dress for you below. Zimmermann are usually known for their patterns and cascading frills so it was a surprising sight to find this number in their boutique, but one I will keep forever. And yes, being black I can wear it over and over again.
Wilde paired the dress with a long gold necklace and wore her hair up. She also wore the dress on a her hips, while I chose a size that allowed me to wear it on my waist. Whether you have a fancy event in Greece to attend, or at a wedding by the water in Australia, you can now shop the Zimmermann Rhiannon Plunge Halter Maxi below.
