As a fashion writer living in New York City, I always keep my eyes peeled for the latest trends. Admittedly, I tend to skip most of them, but there are a few exceptions. And this summer, gauzy, lightweight, nightgown-style dresses may be one of the trends I just can’t resist.
The sleepwear craze of course isn’t new; last year, I could hardly scroll through social media without spotting a pair of boxer shorts on my feed. This season, though, it’s white nightgown-style dresses that seem to be everywhere. It’s not hard to see why, given that their lightweight, paper-thin fabric lends itself well to steamy summer days. After all, don’t we want to feel like we’re wearing (close to) nothing in the heat?
