JFK Jr.’s Lookalike Nephew Jack Schlossberg Calls Out Ryan Murphy’s “Grotesque” ‘American Love Story’

A member of the Kennedy family is airing out their grievances about Ryan Murphy's upcoming anthology American Love Story. The debut season will follow John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's romance, which ended in tragedy after the couple died in a plane crash.

Jack Schlossberg, JFK Jr.'s nephew and the son of Caroline Kennedy, took to social media on Wednesday to explain his family's perspective on Hulu's highly-anticipated series. He revealed that none of the Kennedys were asked to participate.

"Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man," Schlossberg said in a video posted to his Instagram account. "For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with, the new shows being made about him, the answer is no. And there's really not much we can do."

"The right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image and likeness, doesn't survive death in the state of New York," Schlossberg, 32, continued. "For that matter, he's considered a public figure, so there's not much we can do."

The Yale graduate cited his late uncle's philanthropic legacy as a reason for his hesitance.

"I hope those making these shows about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it. And that they donate some of the profits [that] they're making," Schlossberg explained. "For the record, I think admiration for my Uncle John is great. What I don't think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way."

For what it's worth, Murphy has clarified that he's planning on giving away some of his earnings.

“I am going to donate,” the producer and director told Variety in an interview published Thursday. “I also like Jack’s Instagram when he just lip syncs to ’90s girl groups stuff. I want more of that. But I think it would be really hard if your relatives are always in the media.”
