So far, there is no word of a Sydney show (or word about why Sydney has been left out, for that matter), but if we know the laws of supply and demand, if tickets sell out, a date may be added.

What Is . (Period) About?

. was released on American Independence Day, and yes, there was a message in that. The 11-track album marked Kesha’s return to music “on her own terms” following a drawn-out legal battle with Dr. Luke that started in 2014 and only ended on June 22, 2023. On. Kesha serves as co-writer and producer for the first time. In an interview with Billboardshe said of the moment, “For anybody who’s survived anything difficult, hopefully it can be an album that they can put on and think, ‘If she can get through something and find this place of joy, then I can too.

Critics describe it as a whip-smart, chaotic and fun-filled return to the unruly pop Kesha became famous for in the 2000s. Musically and thematically, it revisits hedonism, but with intent. It’s an album about survival and self-possession after years of restrictive contracts and legal battles. Tracks included, “Yippee-Ki-Yay,” “Boy Crazy,” and “Delusional,” certainly give this vibe.

What Happened Between Kesha And Dr Luke?

In October 2014, Kesha sued producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, alleging he abused and assaulted her. She requested that her contract with Dr. Luke’s label, Kemosabe Records, be voided. In 2014, Dr Luke immediately denied the allegations and countersued for defamation (this lawsuit is still standing). In 2016, a New York judge denied Kesha release from her Sony/JKemosabe deal and later dismissed most of her counterclaims, according to ABC News. In February 2020, another New York ruling held that a private text Kesha sent to Lady Gaga —alleging Dr. Luke had assaulted Katy Perry— was defamatory and she was ordered to pay interest on late royalties. Then, in June 2023, New York’s highest court determined Dr. Luke is a limited-purpose public figure and that New York’s updated anti-SLAPP protections apply—raising his burden of proof ahead of a planned July trial.

Days later, the parties settled. Dr. Luke maintained there had been no assault, while Kesha published the following statement:

“Only God knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”
