Lorde Is Officially Bringing Her World Tour To Australia

Lorde is officially going on tour, and she’s finally announced that she’s bringing the world tour to Australia.

She announced the Australian and New Zealand leg of her tour on July 11, in an Instagram story that revealed she will be performing in six shows, kicking off in New Zealand first.

Lorde initially announced the world tour on Instagram on May 9, sharing a photo that shows an x-ray of a side profile with chunky earrings, with the words “Lorde Ultrasound World Tour” underneath. (The very same photo that revealed the Aussie leg of the tour, of course.)

It’s been 11 years since Lorde last toured, and with her recent appearances on-stage with Charli XCX at Coachella and a surprise performance in Washington Square Park in New York City, her fans have been hoping that a tour would soon follow. Lorde also attended the Met Gala in New York on Tuesday, so safe to say, she’s definitely back in the public eye after a long hiatus.

The tour will support her recently announced album, Virgin, which will be officially released on June 27. “Ultrasound ——— I am going on tour in support of my new album, Virgin,” said Lorde in a caption on Instagram. “Very proud and excited to be bringing my most talented friends in support… Come see what’s under the skin.”

When Does Lorde’s New Album Come Out?

Virgin is Lorde’s first album since 2021, and it dropped in late June to much fanfare (naturally). She had already released one single from the album, ‘What Was That’, which was an instant hit with her loyal fans. In an email to fans upon the release, she teased what the vibe of the album would be, saying:

“The colour of the album is clear. Like bathwater, windows, ice, spit. Full transparency. The language is plain and unsentimental. The sounds are the same wherever possible. I was trying to see myself, all the way through. I was trying to make a document that reflected my femininity: raw, primal, innocent, elegant, openhearted, spiritual, masc.”

“I’m proud and scared of this album. There’s nowhere to hide. I believe that putting the deepest parts of ourselves to music is what sets us free.”

Here’s everything we know about the tour, so far.
