THE RUNDOWN:
- Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have announced their engagement and celebrities are taking to social media with reactions
- There are some surprises amongst the well-wishers including Martha Stewart and US President Donald Trump who has previously said he “hates” Swift
- Some name are notably absent including Blake Lively, Swift was recently subpoenaed in the actresses case against Justin Baldoni
America is currently bracing for what feels like its own version of a royal wedding: the union of billionaire pop princess Taylor Swift and her NFL tight-end fiancé, Travis Kelce.
The engagement announcement was made at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 26, with a post that garnered 14 million likes within the first hour. Since then, the celebrity congratulations have been rolling in, including surprise reactions from two of America’s most high-profile felons.
Martha Stewart, who served five months in federal prison and five months under house arrest in the 2000s for conspiracy, obstruction of justice and two counts of lying to federal investigators during a high-profile insider trading scandal, has already volunteered herself as a wedding planner. And, convicted U.S. President Donald Trump, who was convicted of 34 felonies in 2024, has pulled a dramatic U-turn on his long-held Swift disdain and wished the couple well, proving he’ll do anything for a free headline! America is a hell of a town. Some real friends like Sabrina Carpenter and Brittany Mahome have also added their congratulations.

Whether these celebrities are as delighted as we are that, after nearly two decades of heartbreak ballads, Swift has finally found her match, or are merely angling for a sliver of cultural clout or coveted invite, we’re rounding up the celebrities who have wished the couple well.
Interestingly, while some of the singer’s most high-profile enemies have wished her well, Blake Lively — whose birthday fell on Monday, August 25, and who has been close friends with Swift for more than a decade — has remained silent on the engagement news. In May, Swift was subpoenaed in Lively’s ongoing case against former director and co-star Justin Baldoni. Text messages revealed that Lively had referred to Swift as her “dragon” in exchanges with Baldoni, which he interpreted as a threat. Baldoni’s legal team further alleged that Lively’s attorney contacted Swift’s lawyers, pressing her to issue a public endorsement of Lively. Swift did not, and it’s thought the friendship may have soured as a result.

Martha Stewart:
Stewart, 84, has officially volunteered herself as a wedding planner. The lifestyle mogul shared an image of Swift and Kelce’s engagement announcement along with a clip of her sipping a glass of wine. “MMM, the nectar of the Gods,” Stewart said in the clip adding the caption: It’s time to call in the ultimate wedding planner
.”
Donald Trump:

Taylor Swift has often been criticised for keeping her politics close to the chest. But in 2024, after AI deepfakes falsely showed her endorsing a presidential candidate, she publicly revealed her voting intentions. Swift declared she would back former Vice President Kamala Harris, writing: “(Harris) fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” she explained in a post accompanied by a selfie with her cat—a pointed response to JD Vance’s “childless cat lady” remarks. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
The reaction from then-presidential hopeful Donald Trump was swift and caustic. He took to Truth Social to announce, “I hate Taylor Swift,” rolled out Eras Tour–inspired merch emblazoned with his own face, and, most damningly, declared her “no longer HOT.”
Now, in what can only be described as a classic Trump three-point turn, he has extended well wishes to Swift and Kelce. “Well, I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player, a great guy. I think she’s a terrific person,” he said. “So, I wish them a lot of luck.”
Sabrina Carpenter:

Carpenter showed her support by reposting Taylor and Travis’ announcement on her Instagram stories along with a sequence of white love hearts. While the Manchild singer opened for Swift on the international leg of the Eras Tour, and is listed as a featured artist on the tracklist for Swift’s recently announced The Life of a Showgirl album. While she hasn’t historically been a documented member of Swift’s girl gang she could be promoted to bridesmaid if Blake Lively isn’t quick with her congratulations.
Brittany Mahomes

Taylor Swift’s favourite WAG, Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, reposted the couple’s Instagram story, writing: “Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two.” Of all the friends in Swift’s girl gang, Mahomes is the most controversial as a well-documented Trump supporter who received a personal shout-out from the President, who called her a “big MAGA fan.” At the time, Mahomes’ husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, refused to declare his voting preference. “I’ve always said, I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever either way,” he told A to Z Sports. He encouraged fans to get registered to vote and to “do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family.”
Patrick Mahomes:
Kelce’s close friend and quarterback Mahomes shared his own Instagram story with three red heart emojiis.
Gordon Ramsay:
Gordon Ramsay may have volunteered as a celebrity chef. “From one ring to the next …congrats @killatrav & @taylorswift ! From your favourite Home Ec Teacher G x.”
