Besides serving as a talk show host, actress, and beacon of relatability amid Hollywood glamour, Drew Barrymore is a mother to two daughters, Olive and Frankie. And though she maintains a celebrity status, Drew has kept her children out of the limelight to give them the most normal life possible. She has done this by keeping them off social media as much as possible and barring them from major acting gigs.

The decision to keep her children guarded comes from Drew’s inauguration into the industry. With Hollywood's intense polarization and her own experiences, she explains, “My life with my children, my feelings, that's all on the table—but [Olive and Frankie themselves] are not," she told People.

Whether Drew's children will enter the acting industry is uncertain, but one thing is clear: they will not do so early on in their lives as their mother did. Drew explains that ideally, she would prefer her children not to act until they were in their later teen years. “I always just say, ‘School plays, theater camp, everything [yes].'"But being in the public eye, [no] until…’ Drew told People.

Drew co-parents her daughters with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman. The couple split in 2016 after a seemingly painful divorce; however, after all the dust settled, the parents have a healthy co-parenting routine. On a 2025 episode ofThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Drew called her daughters her "north star" and her "compass," explaining, "in the life that I got to live before I knew them, my priorities were different. And ever since I came into the world, I understand what the purpose of my life is. It’s wild.”

Olive Barrymore Kopelman arrived into the world on Sept. 26, 2012. She is the first child of Drew and her ex-husband.

Olive seems is just as creative as her mother, and seems poised to become a fashion designer. "She's a total Edie Beale," Barrymore told PEOPLE in 2022. "She constructs amazing things and is really, has great ingenuity when it comes to tailoring clothes and I have two forms … I just have buckets and baskets and fabrics and then they can just make dresses on the forms."

A sweet memory that Drew shared on her show was how Olive surprised her by trying on her wedding dress. While it will be a long time before Olive gets married, Drew explained that it was such a nostalgic and sweet moment. “I looked at her, and I was like, 'Oh my God, you look so beautiful.," Drew said.

Frankie Kopelman Barrymore was born on April 22nd, 2014, and is the youngest daughter of the Barrymore clan. Drew told PEOPLE she was so relieved and excited that she was having another girl for her second pregnancy. "I have everything I need. It's all about hand-me-downs and room sharing and all that stuff," she commented. "I'm pretty psyched about that!"

Drew’s parenting philosophy is simple: “If they are good, cool people, that’s all I care about.” And while Frankie is still young, Drew explains that she enjoys staying organized: "She has something in her that's so admirable," Barrymore says. "She has incredible systems. Everything's in its place. I marvel at her."

In February 2025, Drew received a sweet surprise from her daughters for her 50th birthday. On an episode of her talk show, baker Amirah Kassem brought Drew two cakes, which she designed with the help of Olive and Frankie. Accompanying them were notes from Drew's daughters. Frankie's read "50 years of being the most fabulous, kindest person on earth, and 12 years of being the most caring, loving mom." While Olive wrote "Not in my 12 years of living life have I found a mother as wonderful as you The search goes on." Drew was understandably teary-eyed at the heartfelt sentiment.
