While the world knows Julianne Moore as an Oscar winner with remarkable range, to her kids, she’s just mom. The Sirens actress shares son Caleb Moore Freundlich and daughter Liv Helen Moore Freundlich with her husband, the director Bart Freundlich. The pair welcomed Caleb in 1997, one year after the couple met when Freundlich directed Moore in his film The Myth of Fingerprints. They expanded their family in 2002, welcoming Liv into the world. Moore and Freundlich tied the knot in 2003.

“The thing I am proudest of is my family in my life,” the A-list actress told Metro in a 2017 interview, adding that “they’re really nice kids.”

While Moore has successfully kept her children’s lives out of the spotlight, she’s publicly gushed about them on multiple occasions. When look-alike daughter Liv turned 22 in 2024, the performer took to Instagram to share a touching tribute to her youngest. “Happy 22nd birthday,” she wrote in the caption of a carousel post. “[You] are not little anymore but you will always be my baby. I love you so much – thank you for being the daughter of my dreams.”

Her son Caleb is similarly grown up. Last year, the 27-year-old announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Kibriyaá Morgan. “Congratulations Cal and Ki ❤️❤️❤️We love you," his proud mom wrote in the caption of her Instagram post celebrating the news.

Caleb Moore Freundlich 

Moore and Freundlich welcomed their first child, Caleb, on December 4, 1997 in Los Angeles, California. In an interview with Oprah, Moore described feeling “equal amounts of terror and joy” on the days her kids were born. “I’ve never lived through anything more exciting—and twice,” she said.

Having grown up moving from one military base to the next, the actress explained to The Times that she tried to give her children more stability, raising them in NYC. Caleb attended the school Friends Seminary, where he played basketball and participated in band, he revealed in a 2022 interview with Shoutout LA. While he played Division I basketball as a student at North Carolina’s Davidson College (he’s 6’2”, according to his player profile), music ultimately won him over. 

Speaking to Shoutout LA, the 27-year-old explained, “[The] first few months of that [freshman] year were so busy that for the first time I wasn’t able to write or play music at all, and I felt like I was missing something big in my life.” 

The young creative decided to pursue his passion, getting a degree in music from Davidson in 2020 before attending NYU to receive his Master of Music in Screen Scoring. According to his official website, he works as a film composer, songwriter, and alternative R&B artist under the name Caleb Moore (he otherwise goes by Cal). He’s also an adjunct professor at FIT, where he teaches the Music Production for Interactive and Animation Thesis course. 

Not only has he made red-carpet appearances with his famous parents—tagging along to the screening of their film After The Wedding and other premieres—but he also hit the carpet himself as composer for the documentary Eat Bitter. The film picked up wins at the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards and the Student Academy Awards.

In August 2024, Caleb got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Kibriyaá Morgan. The two have been romantically linked since 2017, when Morgan posted a picture of Caleb and herself attending a college formal to Instagram. Moore celebrated the news of her son’s engagement with an Instagram post that attracted plenty of celebrity well-wishers in the comments.

Liv Helen Moore Freundlich

Almost five years after the birth of their son, Moore and Freundlich welcomed daughter Liv Helen Moore Freundlich on April 8, 2002. The May December actress shared with The Guardian in 2008 that she felt “lucky” to have a boy and a girl. “I always tell my little girl that I can remember lying in the bathtub when I was pregnant, and I say I wished and wished for a girl and got her,” she shared.

Though both Moore children inherited their mother’s fiery red hair, Liv is often touted as her mom’s twin, bearing a striking resemblance. And their similarities are more than skin deep—from a young age, Liv followed in Moore’s footsteps, booking fashion campaigns and acting roles. She made her modeling debut at just 13-years-old, walking in a J. Crew show. (Molly Ringwald’s daughter, Mathilda Gianopoulos, debuted at the same event, People reported.) 

In 2022, Liv and Moore co-starred in a Bvlgari campaign for Harper’s Bazaar. While watching her daughter pose, Moore explained, “She’s spectacularly poised. I’ve been bragging about Liv since the day she was born, and I'm so impressed by how well she navigates the world and how mature she is.”

The mother-daughter duo have attended various events together over the years, from New York Fashion Week shows and museum benefits to Knicks games and film premieres. Liv’s style often takes a cue from Moore’s, channeling classic glamour and understated elegance. “She's such a good style role model, and I think I learn a lot about my own style through her," the 23-year-old fashionista told Harper’s Bazaar about her mom in 2022.

After attending Manhattan’s Chapin school, the younger Moore went to Northwestern University, majoring in English. She graduated in June 2024. Snaps from her proud mom’s Instagram post show her brother Caleb and both parents came out to celebrate her milestone moment. According to Liv’s LinkedIn, she now works for global entertainment agency WME.
