Meet The New Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader From Perth Who Just Made History

If you’re still riding the high of another gripping season of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, then buckle up, because a new batch of rookies and veterans have just earned their place on the 2025-26 team. And this year, the third-ever Australian (and first New Zealander) has been recruited as a DCC.

Faith Ward is a New Zealand born and Perth raised professional dancer who was reportedly invited to audition for the team earlier this year. Now, she’s made the team! She announced the news on her TikTok on July 17 in a video that shows her holding the iconic DCC uniform. The words, “Officially the 1st New Zealand & 3rd Australian to make DCC” are written over the video, and her caption says “so incredibly honoured”.

Back in May, Faith posted a TikTok showing the moment she was accepted to audition in Texas. “My heart is literally out of my chest right now,” she told the camera, with her hands visibly shaking. The video then shows DCC director, Kelli Finglass, congratulating her on her application being advanced to the final round of the audition process.

The video said the process would kick off in-person, at the Dallas Cowboys headquarters on June 14. “I can’t deal!” said Faith.

Over the next few weeks, she documented the process of getting ready to attend the auditions, including of course, getting hair extensions to ensure her hair “dances well” as Kelli always says. And though she didn’t document the audition process itself, at least not yet, Faith shared glimpses into her new life in Texas.

Flash forward to July 17, and Faith finally got her answer. She’s a DCC!

But with one of our own securing her place on the most famous cheerleading squad in the world, we’re already excited about what’s to come in season three. Here’s everything we know about the Perth dancer.

Who Is Faith Ward?

Faith Ward is a 22-year-old dancer who just joined the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders as a rookie for the 2025-26 season. Faith has been a professional dancer since she was 18 years old, and has previously worked on cruise ships as a dancer.

Where Is Faith Ward From?

There’s been some confusion online about weather Faith is an Australian or from New Zealand, and the answer is… both!

Faith was born in New Zealand but raised in Perth from the age of 10, and has referred to herself as both Aussie and New Zealand.

Why Wasn’t Faith Ward In Season Two Of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders?

If you’re confused about which season we’re talking about and why we didn’t meet Faith on season two of the Netflix show, there’s a very logical reason.

This year’s season of the show covered last year’s recruitment process so we could expect that if the show is greenlit for a third season, we’ll see Faith’s journey unfold around the middle of next year. Given the success of the most recent season of the show, we expect it to come back to our screens.

This season had many storylines for viewers to engage with, like how much the cheerleaders actually earn and the relatability of the impossible standards the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are held to. We also were invested in veteran cheerleader, Chandi Dayle’s story (and KayDianna’s response to it all).

Is Faith Ward The First Australian To Become A DCC?

She is not. Faith is the third-ever Australian to make the team but she has also made history as the first person from New Zealand to become a DCC. Melbourne dancer, Jinelle Esther, and Angela Nicotera, were both Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders around 2012. Apparently, DCC is one of the only professional cheerleading squads that still holds open auditions, which explains how the three Australians were able to audition and make the team.
