- The episode marked the first time the Duchess has ever appeared as a guest on another person's show.
- Lima will return the favor by appearing on Markle's podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, on Tuesday, April 29.
Meghan Markle's first-ever appearance as a guest on a podcast was made all the more historic thanks to one major detail: the Duchess went makeup-free. Sitting down with her friend and host Jamie Kern Lima on Monday, April 28, Markle appeared fresh-faced in a black sweat suit and white sneakers.
"Usually when we're together, we're in our cozy sweats and no makeup," Lima said in her introduction to the episode. "So that's how we are today, too, sitting right here in our cozies with no makeup. And I'm inviting you into the rocking chairs with us."

Markle and Lima's conversation, which they aptly dubbed the "rocking chair session," was raw and unfiltered. Most notably, the Duchess kicked it off by declaring that she was done proving herself: “We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something,” she told Lima. “To prove that you’re enough. You have to prove that you’re pretty enough. You have to prove that you’re smart enough. You have to prove that you’re a good wife, or a good friend, and I was like, ‘I’m just so done with the prove it game.’ And if you can’t see it, I can’t, I don’t need to prove to you why. That’s your loss.”

The Duchess also took the opportunity to share the meaning behind her and Prince Harry's nicknames, "M" and "H," which, she said, “probably [started] at the beginning of us dating, when everything was in code."
“People didn’t know we were dating for—talk about memory lane, so long ago—I mean, it’ll be our seven-year wedding anniversary soon," the Duchess continued. "I couldn’t tell anyone who I was dating and he was keeping—so I think we were on just a letter basis. And then it stuck.”

Aside from Monday's appearance, Markle also hosts her own podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, which debuted on April 8 with Lemonada Media. The Duchess previously hosted the Archetypes podcast on Spotify. Lima will be joining Markle on the former show for a guest cameo of her own on April 29.
“I’m so proud of what we’re creating and the candid conversations that I’m able to have with other female founders as we unpack the twists and turns of building a business,” Meghan said of her new show. “Through my friendships and relationships, we’re able to dive into the type of insights that everyone wants to know as they’re building a business, and that I’m able to tap into as I’m building my own business with As ever.”
