Former first lady, mother, philanthropist and overall cultural icon—Michelle Obama has always been known for her impeccable style. But during this month’s press tour for the release of her third memoir, The Look, it’s clear that she’s officially taken her fashion game to the next level. While on the road with her longtime stylist and The Look‘s co-author, Meredith Koop, Obama has taken the opportunity to reclaim her public style identity, which is exactly what her new memoir dives into. In the book, the duo discusses Obama’s hair, beauty and fashion evolution from The White House to the present day. (Expect behind-the-scenes photos, anecdotes and personal stories associated with her most memorable looks.) And, given the novel’s style-centric focus, it’s no surprise that the former first lady’s press tour looks capture that fashion-forward spirit. To kick things off at a live podcast taping hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, Koop styled Obama in an asymmetrical black dress with bright pops of pink and yellow. The look was a pull from Loewe’s Spring 2026 collection, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s first release as the new creative directors of the house. Keeping all eyes on the ensemble’s centrepiece, the pair opted for simple black Victoria Beckham booties and minimal jewellery.

At another event, Obama went for a slightly more casual look with a deep V-neck grey knit sweater paired with sleek black leggings from Balmain’s Winter 2025 collection. The stars of this outfit were undoubtedly the footwear and accessories: a pair of ruched knee-high wedged leather boots and statement silver rings.

Next up was a look from another recent creative director debut—Matthieu Blazy for Chanel. For a stop at People, Obama wore a grey cropped blazer pantsuit from the designer’s Spring 2026 collection. Tied together with a crisp white top and black-toed Chanel flats, the look effortlessly encapsulated the refined and sophisticated, yet somehow completely down-to-earth, style that we love from her.

For her next appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Koop and Obama went with an all-black custom Simone Rocha midi dress featuring sheer panels and two strings of pearls draping down from the neckline. On her Instagram, Koop noted that the outfit was inspired by a look from Obama’s early days in the White House, where she famously donned a simple black dress adorned with a regal, double-rowed pearl necklace.

Most recently, she’s sported not just one, but two custom Prada Spring 2026 looks for outings in New York City—each striking the perfect balance between formal yet playful energy that she’s become so well-known for. First up was one of the boldest looks we’ve seen her in so far during this press tour, a bright pink dress with a full pleated skirt and pointy black heels.

She kept the vibrancy alive by following the look with another eye-catching ensemble that was ever-so-slightly more muted, but just as fun. Complete with another full skirt, this look featured dual green tones with a neon collared shirt poking out from beneath a square-neck embellished overshirt.

With the press tour still in full swing, the former first lady continues to express that fashion is so much more than just what she wears, but a tool to project confidence and inspire. With her book tour slated until mid-December, we’re bound to see more A+ looks from the minds of Obama and Koop—and we’re already on the edge of our seats. Continue Reading
