The 'Gossip Girl' star has passed at age 39.

Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles as Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl and Dawn Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, reportedly underwent a liver transplant just months before her death. The 39-year-old actress was found dead in her New York City apartment, near Columbus Circle, this morning, according to police sources in contact with ABC News.
The Ice Princess star's cause of death has not yet been revealed. However, her passing is not being "investigated as suspicious" according to The New York Post, which initially broke the news.

According to People, the New York Police Department "responded to a 911 call on Wednesday morning about an unresponsive woman at 1 Columbus Place in Midtown Manhattan. When officers arrived at around 8:01 a.m., they found a 39-year-old woman, identified as Trachtenberg, unconscious. She was pronounced dead at the scene."
NYPD issued a statement that read, "criminality is not suspected. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.”
The New York Post also reported that the actress's mother, Lana Trachtenberg, had found her body at the scene and made the calls to the police and EMS. According to both publications, the actress had received a liver transplant months prior. ABC added that she may have experienced complications.

Over a year leading up to her death, fans expressed concerns for Trachtenberg's health online. She shut down the chatter by posting a selfie to Instagram with the caption, "I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters."
A day later, she posted again. This time saying, "Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition no problems. Why do you have you hate? Get a calendar."
Trachtenberg's celebrity friends and peers have taken to their platforms to express their sorrow over her loss.

Matilda star Mara Wilson wrote, "My heart is breaking for my childhood friend. Your memory will be a blessing, Michelle," over a photo of the actress.
"This is Heartbreaking. 💔 So talented, much too young. RIP Sweet Beauty. xo," Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall posted to X. She later posted a photo of them from Ice Princess and said, "Rest in peace sweet Michelle 💔."
Rosie O'Donnell, who costarred with Trachtenberg in Harriet the Spy, penned in a statement to Us Weekly, "Heartbreaking. I loved her very much. She struggled the last few years. I wish I could have helped."
