Speculation that the pair were beefing began swirling after eagle-eyed fans noticed that Tish was no longer following her daughter on Instagram—a seemingly messy update as her dad Billy Ray shared a photo of him hanging out with Miley one day later. However, the “More to Lose” singer put the feud gossip to bed as she shared a rare statement clarifying her relationship with her parents on May 10.
Explaining that she usually doesn’t feel the need to weigh in on rumors, the “Flowers” singer opened up about why she decided to address family feud speculation in an Instagram Story shared on Saturday afternoon.
“I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. She’s my best friend,” she wrote. Miley also addressed fans’ comments about her mom unfollowing her, revealing that it was a social media mistake. “Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me-simple, coincidental, and uninteresting,” she explained.

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer—who recently announced his relationship with girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley—surprised fans by sharing a photo of him with Miley and her boyfriend Maxx Morando while celebrating his son Braison’s birthday.

“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else,” she wrote. “I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
Her comments about reconciliation come after Miley and Billy Ray reportedly had a falling out following his divorce from Tish in 2022. A source told E! News that the split "put a strain" on Miley's relationship with her dad, and she notably didn’t mention him in speech when she won her first Grammy award in 2024. At the time, sources told Us Weekly that Miley hadn’t “gotten over the disrespect she feels Billy Ray showed Tish and the family," and that the singer had “tried reaching out to Miley many times" to make amends.
