SINGAPORE – At the Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s (SAC) annual meeting last week in Singapore, a highly-anticipated session including representatives of Higg, the Norwegian Consumer Authority (NCA) and Norrøna sought to exchange ideas on the use of consumer-facing data following Norway’s ban on the Materials Sustainability Index (MSI).
On the panel sat the SAC’s vice president of the Higg Index, Jeremy Lardeau; the NCA’s head of section, Tonje Drevland; Norrøna’s chief sustainability officer Brad Boren; and Textile Exchange’s chief executive, La Rhea Pepper.
Boren, who kicked off the session, said he hoped the MSI controversy could prove to be the catalyst for industry improvements. “The reality is we’re not moving nearly quickly enough,” he affirmed.
