SAN FRANCISCO – The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) today announces the release of its Higg Product Module (Higg PM), a lifecycle assessment tool that promises to guide brands, retailers and manufacturers by calculating both product and supply chain performance.
Developed in consultation with as many as 70 SAC members, the latest module will assess a company’s operations against five parameters: global warming potential, water scarcity, eutrophication, fossil fuel resource depletion, and chemistry.
“This groundbreaking tool offers the apparel, footwear, and textile industry the most robust and relevant data available to assess the environmental performance of products,” says SAC executive director Amina Razvi. “The Higg Product Module will open new opportunities for the industry to increase product transparency and sustainability performance on a global scale.”
