On Tuesday at 1pm American time on Tuesday, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce jointly posted a five-slide carousel engagement shoot that featured the self-styled billionaire pop monarch in a lush, editorial-ready spread. It was all we could have hoped for complete with a blinding close-up of her antique-cut engagement ring and her final boss boyfriend (now fiancé), Kelce, kneeling in the greenery. Fans have been quick to start looking for easter eggs (a Swift speciality). And yes, they think they’ve got a spicy one: a Lover album-era swipe at Swift’s ex Joe Alwyn.

The Swift Engagement Shoot Joe Alwyn Easter Egg
In the first slide, Kelce kneels in a grove filled with pink and white blooms. For many, the scene rang a little too familiar. Swifties quickly connected it to her Lover era artwork—her most unabashedly romantic album, with tracks like “Cornelia Street,” “Lover,” and “Paper Rings.” On X (formerly Twitter) user posted: “taylor & travis’ engagement photoshoot looking similar to the lover photos is crazy (PLAY PAPER RINGS),” while another added beneath: “And I think he knowssss AAHAHAHAH.”
Swift and Alwyn began dating in 2016 before their split was confirmed in April 2023. Fans braced themselves for her 2024 record The Tortured Poet’s Department to document the breakup, but instead it leaned heavily on her brief fling with Matty Healy.
Still, the comparisons are hard to ignore. Side-by-side, the two shoots almost look like competing visions of romance—one with Alwyn, one with Kelce. “What she thought it was her love story, [sic] what her love story actually is,” quipped one X user. Another dubbed it: “MANIFESTATION FINAL BOSS.”

With Kelce, to cheesily paraphrase one of the Alwyn album’s standouts, she ain’t gotta tell him, she knows he knows. The difference is that this time she knows. And she’s got the ring to prove it.”
