Ah, the Venice International Film Festival. Home to history-making celebrity smooches, spit-gate and some of the most iconic red carpet looks of all time. In the world of fashion and film, it’s a place where anything can happen and people-watching is a professional sport. As the annual affair officially kicked off on August 27, Italy’s Floating City is already being filled with extremely famous people in exorbitant ensembles. Rejoice! This year, there are lots of big moments to look out for. Films on our radar at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival include Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia starring Emma Stone, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein reimagining starring Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth, and Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother starring Adam Driver and Cate Blanchett. On the first night of the festival, Blanchett ramped up the excitement for the dramatic comedy in a plunging black Armani Privé gown lined with stone-like embellishments and elegant hidden pockets.

Beyond the red carpet, there is also plenty of excellent style to savour, from Tilda Swinton’s relaxed Chanel off-duty uniform to George and Amal Clooney’s arrival ensembles, which included a belted Balmain butter yellow number and a dainty Cartier watch.
