Copenhagen Fashion Week has become known, informally and unofficially, as the annoyingly cool younger sister of the many fashion circuses that dominate our calendars. Sure, the teetering stilettos and aspirational designer accessories of Milan provide joyful moments of voyeurism, and nothing beats Paris for dizzying couture spectacle (Cardi B’s Schiaparelli moment is already etched into fashion folklore). Yet Copenhagen’s rapid ascent into the style zeitgeist is testament to its knack for showcasing fashion that people who are young and cool—or at least aspire to be—can see themselves wearing right now.
This is even clearer on the streets, where the city’s fashion citizens, a tight-knit community of designers, photographers, stylists, influencers, and journalists, expertly blend emerging designers with vintage and handmade pieces. Designs from Scandi favourites like Stine Goya, Baum und Pferdgarten, Cecilie Bahnsen, and OpéraSport are effortlessly mixed with thrifted finds and DIY accessories.
This year, ELLE Australia was on the ground at Copenhagen Fashion Week courtesy of Pandora, soaking up the style and identifying a few standout street themes.

Even the most outlandish Scandinavian outfit balances comfort with sartorial nous, meaning floaty dresses were styled with dolled-up, bow-embellished sneakers, glittering sheer skirts were grounded by flip-flops, or anchored by loafers. The influence of menswear spotted on the runway also trickled onto the streets—think ties and suit jackets softened by exaggerated feminine collars and pleated schoolgirl-esque skirts. On the flipside, the casual blokette aesthetic continued strong, as attendees accessorised jorts and soccer jerseys with heavily charm-adorned designer bags (the vibe may be laid-back, but a designer bag remains Copenhagen’s ultimate IYKYK accessory).
One of the most notable trends was the enthusiasm for headwear. Headscarves and bandanas have been a breakout trend of 2025, but in Copenhagen, they’re not limited to simple cotton kerchiefs. Strips of lace, repurposed doilies, and knitted caps adorned heads—often covering braids and plaits—while balaclavas had a serious moment.
If heads were covered, feet were as bare as possible. Thongs and thong heels dominated, far outstripping Mary Janes and loafers.
Finally, Copenhagen summers are famously unpredictable, perhaps explaining why its stylish locals have mastered layering. No skirt is complete without another skirt beneath it, and contrasting textures reign supreme. Think silk draped casually over denim or whispers of tulle peeking through lace.
