The Standout Moments Shaping The Mood At Men’s Fashion Week

At ELLE Australia we take endless inspiration from menswear. Whether its the joy of an oversized boyfriend knit, the geeky je ne sais quoi of a loafer or the satisfyingly crisp edge of a pleated pant there’s a freedom to be found in the simplicity and sturdiness of clothes that have been traditionally “for the boys.”

This is why when men’s fashion week rolls around we keep our eyes honed – and not just on Harris Dickinson in the front row

Jonathan Anderson will be making his much anticipated debut for Dior on June 27 – the first of many creative directors who will be showcasing their first runways in the coming months. We’re expecting Big Things but while we wait, here are some of the key moments we’ve seen this week

Have you noticed the coolest “flexibly employed” people you know are suddenly dressing like bank clerks by way of Wes Anderson? In 2025 corporatecore has been a dominant trend with sharp shouldered blazers, shirts and ties suddenly popping up in unexpected places. Pharrell Williams skipped Patrick Bateman and took a charming detour to Mumbai with a collection inspired by the “metropolitan environments of India.” The result was structured pieces like overcoats, blazers and shirts worn styled with a certain ramshackle insouciance.

The most obvious reference was Wes Anderson’s The Darling Limited and the collection did include illustrations Louis Vuitton created for the 2007 film.

All we know we suddenly want a blush trenchcoat and some oversized socks.

Has anyone noticed this searing shade of red popping up… everywhere recently? Miuccia Prada has certainly taken note. At her Spring 26 show the peppery shade was woven throughout the collection seen in flashes beneath pant legs, peeping from under coats and splashed on pant legs, leather jackets with vinyl finishes and knitted jumpers. We loved the unexpected colour blocking we saw on the runway, the Sriracha crimson colour worn with blush pink and tan shades as well as its more traditional companion, navy. Whether we’re adding a splash of Sriracha to a jeans and jumper look with unexpected socks or boldly colour blocking with a statement coat this is a trend we’ll be taking from the boys.

Saint Laurent

Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent collection took inspiration from the notion of a 1980s Fire Island getaway. Fine tailoring was given soft, sunsoaked edges with shades of mustard, ochre khaki and purple brimming with warmth. From pleated pants (a trend we’ll be adopting now) to trench coats these ensembles rippled with movement. In the 70s Fire Island in New York State was something of a haven for gay men and is still a queer party hangout for New York’s cool kids. It’s history was alluded to with a scattering of models wearing oversized aviators. We’re feeling sensual silk shirts with pleats.
