The Women Changing The Beauty Game Right Now

Beauty is never a one-size-fits-all, but even with all the options available to us, it can be easy to find ourselves pigeonholed into a certain trending aesthetic, unable to find our authentic voice amongst the beauty noise. But there are a few incredible game-changing women in beauty right now who are shifting our inspiring us to push outside what we may have first thought was possible.

They’re having us remember that rules are made to be broken; especially the prescriptive ones often found in the beauty world. All it takes is an open mind, a change-maker and a few innovative products to lead the way.

Game-Changing Makeup

The power of makeup is transformative, and no one knows this better than Rowi Signh. Though she might not have a background as a makeup artist, Singh hasn’t let that stop her from amassing an impressive following, all from sharing her incredible makeup looks.

Singh believes that makeup is an art form, and her face is the canvas. With the looks she creates being a way to explore her identity, and honouring her  South-Asian heritage.

Not only is her makeup a means of self-expression, but it also boldly ties into her feelings. Through sharing her exploration, we’ve seen Singh break free from any constraining rules in beauty. Instead, she finds it a fun way to express herself.  And while we might not all be ready to layer on a purple look eye look for the office, playing with colour in your beauty routine may just shift your perspective and even your mood.

Game-Changing Skincare

Our skincare routines are such a unique aspect of our lives, with no real ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. But that doesn’t mean we can’t all get caught sticking to the cleanse, serum, exfoliate cycle. To cut through the monotony, brands are shifting our perceptions and breaking the ‘rules’ by formulating new and innovative products.

game-changing lancome renergie skincare

From innovative ingredients like snail mucin to merging ingredients for the first time, the world of skincare is shifting. Case in point, Lancôme’s Rénergie C.R.x. Triple Serum Retinol ($244 at Myer). Designed with three separate chambers, this innovative serum blends for the first time, pure retinol, vitamin C and x-peptides. The ingredients only combine once pumped to create flawless, plump and renewed skin.

Game-Changing Fragrance

Who Is Elijah fragrance founder Raquel Bouris has a rebellious spirit (think: a few strategically placed samples in David Jones) and an openness to sharing all her business’s ups and downs. Her journey started in 2017 at Coachella of all places, where a chance encounter with a fantastic-smelling festival goer left her reminiscing about their fragrance for months.

And she wondered, if one scent could turn heads, what could a whole fragrance line do? Bouris set out on a mission to create an undeniably memorable fragrance brand. With her, at times, guerrilla marketing strategy, Bouris was able to have some serious cut through and is now stocked in some of the world’s biggest retailers.

Proving that all it takes is a great product, determination and the ability to be seen (and let’s be real, smelled) by many to change the fragrance scene.
