Uniqlo set to launch recycled down jackets

TOKYO – Retailer Uniqlo is to launch a new initiative that involves producing and selling new garments made with recycled clothes collected from customers who no longer need them.

Called Re.Uniqlo, the programme will be launched in Japan on 2nd November with a range of recycled down jackets made with rejuvenated down taken from 620,000 jackets gathered around the country since September last year.

Uniqlo, which is owned by Fast Retailing, says the initiative is aimed at benefiting the environment and local communities by keeping valuable resources out of landfill.
