In a rare joint interview, the pair mixed big music news with sweet origin-story details and candid relationship asides. When Did Taylor Swift Record The Life of a Showgirl?
Taylor Swift is a classic overachiever: she recorded The Life of a Showgirl while she was still on the Eras Tour. Jason Kelce captured everyone’s disbelief, yelping, “While on the Eras tour!?”
“I just love it, I love it a lot, I love music. I would be playing shows, I’d do three shows in a row, I’d have three days off [then] I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and actually like working on this I was physically exhausted at this point but I was mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”
Travis jumped in and said “literally living the life of a showgirl,” and Taylor said “I was.”

Swift confirmed that there was an Easter egg for The Life of a Showgirl during the Eras Tour when she entered the stage through a mysterious orange door. “Basically every night of the Eras tour, I would leave every night down an elevator, except for the last one where I exited through an orange door. That was an Easter egg. That was a hint that I may be leaving the Eras Tour era, but I may also be entering a new era.” While she shared that Tortured Poets Department was “cathartic” for Taylor, she says of this new album “This completely matches the way my life has felt…It’s everything that was going on behind the curtain.”

For the last few years when we’ve thought “Taylor Swift” we’ve thought “red” but Swift is making the shift to orange. “It feels energetically how my life has felt. This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life on this tour,” she said.
Travis Kelce Fell For Taylor When He Saw Her At The Eras Tour
Kelce attended the Eras Tour in July 2023 at Arrowhead Stadium and fell hard for Swift.
“I give The Eras Tour credit,” Travis told Swift in the episode. “Because if I had never gone to that show and just been mesmerised and just been captivated — and then left with such a desire to want to meet you, I would’ve never gone on [New Heights] and told everybody how butt hurt I was.”
“I had never been so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were,” Travis told Swift on the podcast — Swift gave him a look and said “Aw, that’s really wonderful.”
“But then… We see you on the stage, and we see how crazy you can get an entire stadium going, and then I get you in a room, and it’s like I’ve known you forever,” Travis told Swift, recalling, “It was just the easiest conversation I ever had. I was so much fun that it just knocked my socks off.”

Taylor Swift Thought Travis Kelce Might Be Too Good To Be True
Travis and Taylor haven’t shared how they fell in love before, and the story was even sweeter than we thought. Swift says there was nothing subtle about Kelce’s courtship, describing him as a “human exclamation point”. According to Kelce, he fell hard fast and was positively Machiavellian in trying to win Taylor over. “It felt like a I was in a ‘80s John Hughes movie and he was like, standing outside my window with a boom box being like ‘I want to date you, do you want to go on a date with me, I made you a friendship bracelet, do you want to date me?” (Kelce famously had premium versions of the Eras friendship bracelets Taylor Swift fans wore during the Eras Tour made for him and Taylor – just one of many symbolic and costly gifts he would present Swift with in their relationship.)
Taylor thought it could be too good to be true but she said she thought to herself: “If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about, wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.” Kelce, for his part, was attending the Eras Tour in person, knowing that that’s exactly what she would want him to do.

Taylor Swift Didn’t Know Much About Football When They Started Dating
Travis said the early stages of their relationship felt like a “clean slate” for him, partly because Taylor knew absolutely nothing about football. Swift shared that on their first date she tried to show an interest, asking him what it was like to look across the scrimmage at the Super Bowl and see his brother (the Kelce brothers’ teams faced off at the 2023 Super Bowl). It was a thoughtful question—but also showed how little Swift knew about the game, as the brothers’ sides (defence and offence) are never on the field together.
Taylor Swift Opened Up About Getting Her Masters Back
Swift said she found out she’d successfully gotten her masters back after a protracted battle while she was supporting Kelce at the Super Bowl. “We were at the Super Bowl in Kansas City, and I get a call from my mum and she’s like: ‘we did it you got your music.” Swift audibly choked up recalling the moment, saying she “very dramatically hit the floor” and was “bawling” and “weeping.” She knocked on the door to tell Travis and found him playing video games. Understandably, he had to pause the game—and she fell “like a dead weight” into his arms. Cute.
She Admitted She’s An ‘Easter Eggs’ ‘Zodiac Killer’
Nobody drops an easter egg like Taylor Swift, and the singer got into why she’s so obsessed with them in the podcast. And yes, she’s aware she may be getting out of control with them. “The Easter eggs thing is getting a little Zodiac Killer now,” she admitted. But, fans got an insight into the workings of Taylor’s mind. “I love numerology, I love maths, I love dates,” she explained. “The art of the Easter egg is there are dos and don’ts.” Swift said that for fans looking for hints that she and Kelce might be engaged (or expecting), they can forget about her dropping any coded messages in that direction.
“I’m never going to plant an Easter egg that ties back to my personal life; it’s always going to be toward the music.” She and Travis discussed their numerology. Swift loves the number 13, and Travis’s jersey is number 87, which makes a perfect 100. Essentially? If you crunch the numbers, which Swift does, they’re meant to be.
