Fans have been convinced that Taylor Swift would announce the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) at the 2025 American Music Awards since a “Taylor’s Version” of “Look What You Made Me Do” appeared in the penultimate episode of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Indeed, rumours got so hot Australia’s national masthead and your dad’s favourite morning read The Sydney Morning Herald speculating the time was nigh, citing her announcement of the release of The Tortured Poets Department during her acceptance speech for Midnights at the 2024 Grammys.

Did Taylor Swift Confirm Reputation ‘Taylor’s Version At The AMAs?
Sadly, or collective hopes were left shot when Taylor Swift neither appeared at AMAs, or announced her album release. We will patiently await another music awards.
Why Is Everyone Obsessed With Taylor’s Version?
Fans are full of anticipation for good reason. Reputation has similarities to other Swift albums, in the sense that it’s autobiographical, but the differences are what make so many people identify with the album. It was released in 2017, three years following her previous album, 1989, and while that era was all about the girl gang, this one was written at a time where her reputation was in ruin. This release will add another layer of Swift-lore music: her battle with her former label Big Machine Records.
The label was purchased by Scooter Braun in 2019. Braun has become something of a villain in the music industry, notorious for having denied several artists including Swift the rights to their masters, refusing them the right to repurchase. As ex-bestie Blake Lively would say, Swift is a dragon and Braun didn’t stand a chance. As of writing, Swift has successfully released and re-recorded six of her previous albums.
Swift spent much of the last leg of her Eras Tour teasing a release, with Reputation-themed mashups played as surprise songs, changes to her Reputation bodysuit. Though those may all sound like long bows to draw, one thing about Taylor Swift is, everything has a deeper meaning.
What Will Reputation (Taylor’s Version) Be About?
Reputation is a coming of age album that simultaneously explores the unique fury of being judged and antagonised for being a young celebrity and the unavoidable changes to your character that result from it. It tracks the demise of more than one of her relationships and pays homage to her budding relationship with Joe Alwyn in ‘King of my Heart’.
The album is filled to the brim with bangers that any Swiftie has belted out while driving with the windows down while wind whips their hair.
