Today’s hype-fueled fashion landscape yields a mountain of fresh menswear every month. Which is why every issue of GQ now includes The Drops, a guide to the best of the best new gear as it hits stores. This month, we’re exploring the farthest, swerviest reaches of the suiting universe—from screaming pink topcoats to fur-topped loafers.

ORNATE COORDINATES

Needles broke through stateside on the strength of its A$AP Rocky–approved tracksuits, but it’s the Japanese label’s suit suits—decked out in eccentric prints with mile-wide lapels and flowy trousers—that now deserve your full and undivided attention (blazer, $939, and pants, $593).

TWO-FACED FASTENERS

Keep the shell pearls on these cuff links from U.K. jeweler Completedworks right side up on more formal occasions, then flip them to the jade-toned resin blobs when you’re feeling funkier ($157).

FUCHSIA FROCK

The choice is yours: You can drown your fine tailoring under a somber gray topcoat like everyone else, or you can swathe yourself in blazing pink cashmere courtesy of Valentino ($3,550).

PATCHWORK VEST

Nobody said your three-piece had to match. Acne Studios freaky, textural, pattern-happy waistcoat will transform your standby charcoal suit into a supercharged party fit (price upon request).

SHOW-OFF SHIRT

This autumn marks Miu Miu’s first menswear offering in 14 years—which means designer Miuccia Prada’s internet-breaking cropped button-downs are finally available in your size ($1,070).

COOL-GUY COLLAR

The best way to pair a camp shirt—like, say, Bode’s delicately embroidered silk version—with a suit jacket? Collar out, ’70s style ($530).

SLICK SHADES

As Jack Nicholson has proved for the better part of a century, the right sunglasses can dial your suit up from perfectly respectable to unimpeachably cool. These rimless gold-arm frames from Chrome Hearts are, without question, the right sunglasses ($1,540).

BOXY SHOES

Square-toe footwear has long been written off in menswear circles as clunky and unsightly, but Italian shoemaker Marsèll’s chic take is proof it’s time for a critical reevaluation ($985).

BRILLIANT BOUTONNIERE

Beautifully appointed in yellow gold and onyx—and splashed with a sextet of diamonds for good measure—Van Cleef & Arpels iconic Rose de Noël brooch is a surefire way to level up your lapels ($17,100).

SHARP SHORTS

Dress shorts are a power move—especially when they’re as good as these deep-pleated, houndstooth-check, long and loose stunners from Fendi Men’s ($820).

TONED-DOWN TIE

This tonal herringbone Hermès tie, embroidered with an artful nod to the Parisian stalwart’s equestrian roots, is a touch more understated—but no less arresting—than the house’s famed bright silk neckwear ($335).

DOUBLE-TAKE TROUSERS

The navy blue tones and flattering straight-leg cut make these Mans trousers as versatile as can be; the subtle sheen and wood-grain weave, meanwhile, ensure they’ll turn plenty of heads ($260).

AIRBRUSHED BLAZER

A nod to Alexander McQueen’s legendary spring-summer 1999 runway collection, this spray-paint-blasted, double-breasted sport coat reads more downtown art opening than Midtown power lunch ($4,590).

WATERSHED WATCH

To mark the Royal Oak’s 50th anniversary, Audemars Piguet slimmed down its landmark octagonal timepiece ever so slightly, added a brand-new self-winding movement, and then dressed it up with stainless steel and 18-karat pink gold ($29,600).

BUNCHED-UP BLAZER

Most tailoring seeks to sidestep fabric scrunches and wrinkles at every turn. For Dior Men designer Kim Jones, though, the scrunching is all part of the fun—hence the artful, surprisingly elegant tie closure on this icy blue suit ($3,300).

COLOR-BLOCKED COAT

Nigo’s Pop art sensibilities come through loud and clear on this woolly Kenzo suit jacket, which balances a thick slice of pastel pink atop a mossy green base ($1,265).

HIRSUTE SLIP-ONS

Some loafers mean business. And some, like these furred-out Santoni pennies, are just here for a good time ($1,520).

HIGHFALUTIN HANKIES

Brunello Cucinelli’s unbeatable pocket squares pair the patterns and palette of your favorite bandana with the luxe silk and hand-rolled edges of your grandpa’s hankie ($250 each).

STAGE-READY SUIT

Alessandro Michele’s Gucci has established itself as the gold standard for rock star tailoring, with everyone from Iggy Pop to Harry Styles donning the house’s raucous suits onstage. This modish pea green assemblage, with its high-neck cut and offbeat four-button closure, is plucked straight out of Swinging London’s trippy late-’60s heyday (jacket, $3,600, shirt, $750, pants, $1,350, and tie, $510).

CRISP CLOAK

Lapels? Where we’re going, we don’t need lapels. Let Dolce & Gabbana’s exceptionally sleek dinner jacket show you the way ($2,795).

OLD-SCHOOL KNOTS

As Ralph Lauren has proved over and over again for decades, sometimes the coolest thing you can do is lean into the classics—these foulard twill neckties are as classic as it gets ($125 each, Polo Ralph Lauren).

FLOWERY SOCKS

Tabio’s discreet floral hosiery packs an outsized punch without ever veering toward novelty-statement-sock territory ($18 for pair).

FORMAL CHAIN

Not a tie guy? Take a heavy gold chain—the A-list’s red-carpet neckwear of choice—out for a spin instead. David Yurman’s is finished with an onyx scarab, the ancient Egyptian symbol of rebirth ($24,000).

PECULIAR PANTS

Nobody makes the fusty and traditional feel playful and new quite like Thom Browne. Case in point: These enormously cuffed trousers, constructed from a trio of clashing heavyweight tweeds ($3,430).
