After a heavy season of farm-stay drama, Zac confessed to Maya: “When you expressed your feelings about potentially going home, it was in that moment that I truly realised how close I was to losing you, and you were someone I absolutely wanted to fight for.”

Zac was referring to a mid-season moment when fan-favourite villain Miranda Chopping clashed with Maya, bringing her to tears. Despite his undeniable chemistry with Miranda, Zac was charmed by Maya’s humble nature and sweet personality, ultimately choosing to send Chopping and her Chanel 2.55 bag packing. (Miranda seems completely unfazed, however, and has already moved on with influencer Josh Brown.)

With Miranda out of the picture, Zac’s journey came down to an agonising choice between Maya and runner-up Mieke. And, he was taken with Mieke’s beauty, he ultimately saw a future with Maya—a decision that left Maya “over the moon”.

“I’m so happy. I’m definitely falling in love with him. He is the guy I’ve been looking for,” she said.

Mieke, for her part, admitted she was “a little bit heartbroken”, but understood his choice.

In images exclusively shared with New Idea following the reunion, it was hinted that an engagement may be in their future, with Zac pictured literally down on one knee in front of Maya.

In an interview with the publication, the couple explained that they’re currently dating long distance, with Maya still working as a medical receptionist in Melbourne while Zac is on the farm in the Adelaide Hills. “Long-distance is definitely not easy,” Maya said. “Though we have patted ourselves on the back a little bit. So far, it’s been pretty smooth-sailing because we do make time to go and see each other.”

As for whether marriage actually is on the horizon, well, it doesn’t seem that far off. “It’s definitely been talked about here and there, so it’s one of those things.
