Bangladesh remains top denim exporter to US in Jan-Apr 22

Top denim exporter to the USA – Bangladesh exported $248 million worth of denim apparel in January to April 2022. According to new data from the Commerce Department’s Office of Textiles & Apparel (OTEXA) revealed that Bangladesh’s denim export witnessed impressive growth in the period and grew by 51%.

OTEXA data also showed that overall denim imports by the USA have reached $1.25 billion in January to April 2022, witnessing a 0.84 percent Y-o-Y rise.

Leading US denim brands noted their business has seen incredible growth as they have refocused the variety in their core best-selling items.

This upward growth is also reflected by other leading denim exporting nations’ export to the USA market. Pakistan exported $152 million worth of denim in the period and witnessed 72.48% growth. While Vietnam exported $137.37 million worth of denim, with a 40.94% growth to the US market. While China shipped $110.64 million – and up by 20.23%.

In terms of growth, Egypt performed remarkably as it noted 126% growth in its denim export to the USA and earned $71.70 million in January to April 2022.

The latest report by Research and Markets estimates the worldwide denim market to grow by $76.1 billion by 2026, up from $57.3 billion in 2020. The market research firm attributed the anticipated success to factors including casualization in the workplace.
