Cate Blanchett is nothing if not daring with her sartorial choices. Always willing to experiment with a cutting edge silhouette or a bold, fashion-forward piece, the actress is always one to watch when a new press cycle comes around. Blanchett is now deep into the promotion circuit for Black Bag, the Steven Soderbergh thriller that sees her playing one half of a spy couple alongside Michael Fassbender—and naturally, Blanchett has been anything but boring with the red carpet choices.

At a U.K. Special Screening of the film in London last night, Blanchett wore an artful dress. The skirt and bodice were made of a gray herringbone fabric, which wrapped around her chest over voluminous bright red sleeves with black spike details that formed an almost spherical silhouette. The dress featured a plunging neckline and a backless design. She paired the dress with a pair of knee-high black heeled boots and wore her hair in a laid-back low bun.

Blanchett's abstract dress is only the latest in a series of eye-catching looks from the actress, who consistently opts for bold, boundary-pushing looks. There was her plunging bodysuit with a plaid suit. Then there was the time she rewore a bedazzled yellow gown, seemingly repurposed to look backwards at the Golden Globes. And, of course, who could forget her built-in scarf detail or her spoon halter top. Finally, there was her plunging black blazer with a dramatic gold bird statement necklace. Time and time again, Blanchett has wowed in outfits that are truly works of art—and in the age of method dressing, it's a breath of fresh air.
