Dreaming of an Isabel Marant Leather Jumpsuit for Fall

Visits: 25

Working at Vogue means that some days getting dressed can be a bit of a struggle. Especially as the days get colder, the outfits tend to become lazier and by the end of October, I’m basically wearing the same rotation of knit sweaters and jeans. This fall, I’m hoping to ramp up my style and channel that sort of bohemian-French girl energy Isabel Marant is known for with this one-and-done leather jumpsuit from her fall collection.

Now, leather for fall certainly isn’t revolutionary. But while classic black and brown leather have its place, burnt orange is definitely one of this season’s most covetable colors. It may be scary to go with such a bold hue on an investment leather piece, but that’s exactly why it would become a forever staple in my closet. (If Marant was able to bring the wedge sneaker back decade after decade, I trust her on this too.)

And unlike faux leather that can sometimes make one overheat even on the coldest of days, the lambskin leather won’t make you break a sweat. I know I would look cool whether I wore it with a fuzzy mohair knit in a monochromatic color palette, like they did on the runway; or I layered it with another fall grail item like a classic button-down. Marant paired it with a knee-high leather boot, but I think sneakers might be a better choice for me — maybe even a wedge sneaker!

A visit to Paris seems unlikely in the near future, but maybe this jumpsuit can help me channel some of that French energy as I walk down Broadway on my way to 1WTC.
