Exclusive ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ to begin on 12 Nov

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently declared the mega event ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ at a press conference in its Uttara premises. In the meet the press event, Faruque Hassan, President, BGMEA declared that the ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ week-long event will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka between November 12 and 18 to showcase the country’s robust performance in the garment sector.

Side by side, almost a dozen of events such as the Dhaka Apparel Expo, the Bangladesh Denim Expo, and the Dhaka Apparel Summit will take place during the week, while the BGMEA Innovation Centre would be launched.

The ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ event aims to showcase impressive stories of the sector, especially its remarkable strides in the areas of workplace safety, environmental sustainability and workers’ wellbeing.

The week-long initiative will present physical events comprising summits, expositions, exhibitions, awards, factory tours, cultural shows and networking dinner.

It’s a signature event of Bangladesh which the world’s 2nd largest apparel exporting country. The country exports ‘Made in Bangladesh’ apparel to over 160 countries of the world.

The ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ aims to bring under one roof all the stakeholders of Bangladesh apparel industry to initiate collaborations as well as discuss prospects and roadmap for the future. In addition, the event will work towards a collective promise of promoting sustainability and responsible business.

“The ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ is a unique initiative to showcase the impressive stories of Bangladesh apparel industry as well as its continuous strive to pursue excellence. The Week alongside showcasing the strength of the country’s apparel industry aims to identities future priorities and scopes of collaboration among the stakeholders to ensure Bangladesh remain as a preferred destination for global apparel sourcing,” Faruque Hassan said.

The Made in Bangladesh Week will be attended by a wide spectrum of industry stakeholders including representatives of governments from home and partner countries, international organizations, employers, private sectors, workers’ representatives, civil society, brand representatives buyers and academics.
