Some 180,000 LA residents are under evacuation orders, and over 2000 buildings have burnt to the ground in raging LA fires that are ripping through Los Angeles. The LA Times is reporting that at least five people have died in the blaze the Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley is calling “one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles.”
The most dangerous of the five wildfires burning is in the Pacific Palisades area, where some of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers like Ben Affleck, Reese Witherspoon and Tom Hanks live and own property.
Less than 48 hours after many celebrities attended the Golden Globes, the horrific natural disaster is destroying their homes. So far, celebrities like Paris Hilton, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Sir Anthony Hopkins, The Hills star Heidi Montag and her partner Spencer Pratt, James Woods and Anna Faris have had their properties destroyed.
Residents in surrounding areas are also being evacuated and many celebrities share surreal devastation scenes via social media.

As of Friday morning (AEDT), the wildfires have spread through 108 kilometres of land —close to the size of San Francisco— the Palisades fire remains uncontained and is being called the most destructive in L.A. history.

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s property has been burnt to the ground. The three-story, $6.5 million dollar home featured six bedrooms, six bathrooms and oceanfront views. has burnt to the ground with the pair yet to comment.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton has confirmed via social media that she has lost her Malibu beach house in the fires. Like many celebrities, the home is not her residential property, and Hilton watched the destruction from afar. “Heartbroken beyond words. Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.”
“While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family is safe. My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires,” she said. “To all the people who have lost their homes, their memories, and their beloved pets. My heartaches for those still in harm’s way or mourning greater losses. The devastation is unimaginable.”
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
The Hills stars have confirmed on Instagram that their home has been lost to the fires with Spencer Pratt writing: “The one positive sign i saw as our house burned down was ours sons bed burned in the shape of a heart.”
“A sign of how much love was in this house so thankful for all the years and memories there with our family.” The couple and their two children have been safely evacuated. Spencer’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, posted to Instagram in support. “I am beyond heartbroken for my brother, Heidi and the kids,” she wrote. “Just spoke to my dad – he tried to save my brother’s house but the wind is so strong there was nothing he could do. Even the fire station in the palisades has burned down. The Pacific Palisades is completely on fire.” Pratt later shared that his parent’s house has also been destroyed.
Anna Faris
TMZ has reported that Scary Movie actor Anna Faris has lost her home. The 4,000-square-foot property was purchased for US $5 million in 2019. Faris is yet to comment.
Mandy Moore
This Is Us actor Mandy Moore has seemingly confirmed that her home has been destroyed in the LA fires. Filming her Altadena neighbourhood, she reported, “I am devastated and gutted for those of us who have lost so much.” Earlier, she had taken to Instagram stories to share she and her family were safe and thanked friends and first responders for refuge. “Grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night.” “Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don’t know if our place made it.”
She followed with another video sharing an apocalyptic-looking landscape in the area of Altadena. “This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home. I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much. I am absolutely numb.”
“We were able to park and walk up our street to bear witness to all the loss. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact.”
She continues, “We lost Taylor and griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned. We lost our garage and back house. Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in laws. My brother and sister in law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends. Feeling weird survivors guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support. Thanks for everyone for checking on us and offering us help. Altadena strong.”
The actor later returned to her property to document the devastation sharing images of her home on Instagram.
James Woods
Actor James Woods learnt on a CNN broadcast that his home had been destroyed, breaking down in tears. “One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone,” Woods said on air. “There was so much chaos, it was like an inferno. Every house was on fire around us.” Woods said that his home security cameras were capturing the collapse of his home and posted a haunting video of smoke and flames rolling across an outdoor balcony in which the sky appears blackened. “All the smoke detectors are going off in our house and transmitting to our iPhones,” he wrote on X. “I couldn’t believe our lovely little home in the hills held on this long. It feels like losing a loved one.”
Dan Levy
Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy’s home has been destroyed. “Heartbroken for my family, my friends, and the people of [Los Angeles] affected by these catastrophic fires,” he wrote in an Instagram stories post.

What Caused The LA Fire?
There are three major fires in Los Angeles, including the Pacific Palisades and another raging in the mountains of Pasadena, The region is known for wildfire thanks to the Santa Ana winds, which originate inland blowing east. Unpredictable natural phenomena occurring in frequently draught-stricken Los Angeles are a recipe for devastation and are sometimes referred to as “the Devil Winds”. Local officials have said that the winds driving the current fires have reached “hurricane-force”.
What Is The Pacific Palisades?
The Pacific Palisades area is a neighbourhood in the Westside region of Los Angeles that, thanks to its waterfront views, has become beloved by wealthy A-listers. The location was celebrated in the Beach Boys “Surfin’ U.S.A, and comedian Jerry Lewis was once honorary mayor. An eponymously titled TV series, Pacific Palisades, was produced by Adam Spelling in the 90s.
