Her last public appearance was at the Grammy Awards in February this year, where she accepted Best Pop Vocal Album for Mayhem and Best Dance Pop Recording for “Abracadabra”. Page Six published photos of the couple out for a casual stroll with their child in Northern California on September 11, and as yet the couple have not returned requests for comment.
Details around the birth remain tightly under wraps (in fact, searches for “Lady Gaga surrogate” and “did lady gaga have a baby” rapidly spiked within an hour of the images being published), and no official statements have been made regarding the baby’s name or sex, leaving us to piece together the happy surprise.
While the birth of Gaga’s first child may have caught the media by surprise, fans who have been keeping a close eye on the singer might have had an inkling, given she’s mentioned plans for motherhood multiple times in the last year.

The singer discussed her plans for parenthood in March last year. She told The New York Times that she was looking forward to becoming a (lowercase) mother. “I’m excited to be a mum. I used to have a lot of apprehension about it,” she told the publication before expanding on her approach to parenting. “The thing that’s the most important to me is to not force my children to live a life that they are not choosing. So the more that we can give them space to discover who they are on their own, that’s the thing that I believe in the most.”
She also admitted to a tug-of-war between her role as a performer and the prospective role of mother. “I’m also kind of at war with myself sometimes as I get ready to hopefully become a mom soon,” she told the outlet. “Like, today is wonderful, but the whole day has revolved around me. There’s an incredible amount of narcissism in this.”

Gaga debuted her relationship with tech entrepreneur Michael Polansky in late 2019 and in 2024 confirmed their engagement (after fans were given a glimpse of her stunning diamond engagement ring at the Venice Film Festival).
According to a source close to the couple, their relationship has provided a safe haven for Gaga. “She hasn’t really gotten to have a private life since she was like 22… she’s been laying low since the tour ended,” they said. “They have an amazing biodome of love. Seems like a really safe space for her.”
