But if she wears them, they’re worth a try.

What Martha Stewart wears, Eva wants. I don’t think she set out to be an influencer for all generations (or maybe she did!), but one thing I know for sure: Stewart has just as much swaying power in fashion as she does at home and in the kitchen. And that’s exactly why I want everything she just wore, especially those break-your-ankles heels that—at 83 and 5-feet-9-inches tall—are a bold choice that I 100 percent back.
Stewart recently attended the Tory Burch Foundation’s inaugural Founders Breakfast, stopping for a quick photo in front of the brand’s sleek step and repeat. The media mogul wore sleek black cigarette pants, a very Audrey Hepburn move that, naturally, also made me want to invest in sleek, straight-leg trousers. She paired the pants with a beige top, a white bomber jacket with contrasting black seam detailing that really gave the topper some dimension, and last but certainly not least, these Tory Burch studded platforms that aren’t for the faint of heart.

Stewart’s shoes come in at a daring—or reasonable, depending on how you see it—4-inches and then some, with a wooden platform sole that’ll give you some serious height. The simple sandal has a strappy upper, with an extra strap around the ankles for security and metal studs along the base for some edge. They’ll cost you $428, but one color is on sale for $269. Given Stewart’s sighting, I don’t foresee the marked-down pair to be in stock for much longer, though.
Aside from the obvious sky-high appeal, Stewart’s sandal sighting also rings in a new season of footwear—one that involves more foot exposure and, oftentimes, more daring silhouettes (read: another example is this ballet sneaker à la Jennifer Lawrence). Her wooden platforms are also proof that '70s styles—the boho era that Chloé so effortlessly ushered in on the runway—is leaving its mark and will remain in high demand for the next few months.
It’s a good thing because platform clog sandals are a summer essential; they pair well with everything from jeans (cuffed, baggy, cropped, and more of the like) as well as trousers, skirts, and breezy dresses—and though divisive at first sight, can actually be super comfy thanks to the platform heel that provides even weight distribution and no itty-bitty heel that can get stuck in sidewalk grates (!!).
Thanks to Stewart and the Chloé girl resurgence, I predict wedge clog sandals like these to be everywhere in a few weeks. Mark my words—and shop them below.
