Mia Goth Has (Finally) Filed For Divorce From Shia LaBeouf

Mia Goth has been freed from the shackles of her marriage to Shia LaBeouf, officially filing for divorce after nearly 10 years of marriage. The actors married in a shotgun Las Vegas wedding in 2016, when Goth was 23 and LaBeouf was 30, after they met while filming Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012.

By all accounts, the pair had a tumultuous marriage. Two years after getting wed, they split briefly (though remained legally bound) and in 2020, were seen bike riding together in Los Angeles while wearing their wedding rings. They welcomed a daughter in 2022, but earlier this year, Page Six reported Goth and LaBeouf had split a year prior.

Now, as reported by Page Six, Goth has filed for divorce, and she marked the occasion with a very shady Instagram post (the best way to celebrate a split). In one of her signature selfies, Goth wears a T-shirt that reads “My ex is my biggest fan,” captioning the post with nothing but a kiss emoji. Iconic.

Mia Goth’s career has skyrocketed in recent years. Her performance in Ti West’s horror trilogy — X, Pearl and MaXXXine — has set a benchmark for modern scream queens, inspiring breakout stars like Inde Navarrette, who credited Goth as the inspiration for her Oscar-buzzed performance as possessed girlfriend Nikki Freedman in Obsession. Goth has been involved in major mainstream movies like Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and was appointed an ambassador for Jonathan Anderson’s Dior last year. Meanwhile, soon-to-be ex-husband Shia LaBeouf has remained embroiled in controversy and legal troubles, leaving her fans puzzled by their relationship.

Said fans certainly seemed delighted by the news of Goth’s filing this morning, though. One user commented, “Wipe the floor with him, girl!” and another wrote, “Iconic post breakup selfie.” It seems like Goth is pretty happy to be done with that chapter of her life, but it’s worth noting the divorce isn’t final — at this stage, Goth has only filed, so the marriage won’t officially be null and void until the court grants the divorce order.

The divorce comes at a pretty bad time for LaBeouf. A day before the filing, The Cut reported LaBeouf settled a case with ex-girlfriend, musician FKA Twigs, out of court, who he dated while he was separated from Goth between 2018 and 2019. FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, filed a suit in March claiming that the nondisclosure agreement she signed when settling the sexual assault case against LaBeouf in 2020 violated California’s STAND Act. LaBeouf agreed to void the NDA and the case was subsequently dropped.

Sending nothing but blessings to Mia Goth — we love to see a liberated diva.
