Six months after Dior introduced the Cigale bag, a sculptural design by Creative Director Jonathan Anderson which interpreted the house’s archival heritage with the designer’s contemporary flair, the maison has added another size to its lineup. The Dior Cigale Mini sees the original bag shrunk into a petite mini size, big enough to fit your phone and wallet but not much else, because a woman on the move needn’t be weighed down with superfluous baggage.
Presented as part of the Spring–Summer 2026 collection, the bag takes its cues from La Cigale, an iconic dress created by Christian Dior for Fall–Winter 1952. The design was progressive for its time, pairing the rigour of couture construction with a silhouette that felt relaxed, contemporary and wearable.
Captivated by its modernity, Anderson has described the original gown — featuring a fitted bodice, full moiré skirt, and pronounced pleats — as “my favourite dress of all in the history of fashion.”
The Cigale was Anderson’s first original bag for the house, its design translating the dress’s sculptural, classic silhouette into a wearable accessory, continuing Anderson’s dialogue between history and modernity. Its pared-down lines are accented with a bow—an eternal Dior code — finished in metal, echoing the 1950s original’s unique combination of delicacy and structure.
Crafted from supple, luminous calfskin, the bag is available in three sizes, small, medium and now, mini, and comes in a palette of iconic house shades, including rose soupir, icy blue, trench beige, and moiré grey. The Cigale’s new mini size brings the bag firmly into evening wear territory, its boxy silhouette adding a sculptural quality to sleeker formal ensembles. Equally though, the bag would be right at home thrown across the body for running errands.
Designed with versatility in mind, the Cigale features a single handle and can be carried by hand, on the shoulder, or crossbody, making it the perfect lightweight everyday companion. True to Dior’s commitment to refined detail, the house name is delicately intertwined with the eyelet of its chain.
