Look closer! Cartier has unveiled its new Clash de Cartier bag and the magic in the minimalist creation is all in the details. Every house has its signatures and Cartier has borrowed from its Clash de Cartier jewellery line to bring a stud-twist closure to the new bag. Forget buckles, clasps and fumbling with magnetic clasps; the Clash opens and closes with a satisfying snap that manipulates the accessory’s silhouette.
Otherwise it’s a gorgeous piece of minimalism. “The aesthetic of the bag is driven by the purity of its lines,” says Marlin Yuson, Cartier’s Creative Director of Accessories and Leather Goods. “We took inspiration from an envelope to design an elegant, sleek fastening system that subtly defines the shape of the bag on either side of the handle. It can be left open for a loose, casual fit, or fastened with a turn of the stud for a more tailored, structured look.”
The absence of other hardware lets the bags supple leather with a natural grain and tactile finish, and elegant lines do the talking. Designed to develop a patina over time the classic cary all will evolve with you. Meanwhile, the colour palette features black, caramel and the house’s signature burgundy. With a versatile silhouette this is a bag that can stay with you 24-hours whether you’re toting your laptop to the office or fastening for a sleek evening look. For the Clash, the difference between casual and tailored is one snap of a fastening away. If only we could say the same for the rest of our wardrobes.
