Just when we’d recovered from controversial HBO series, The Idol, Abel “The Weenkd” Tesfaye has confirmed a new project, and it has one of the most fitting cast lineups we’ve seen to date.

Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan join Abel for the new film, titled Hurry Up Tomorrow, and all we can say it’s this feels like a deliciously mischievous casting choice.

The brainchild of The Weeknd, the feature film was initially announced last year but has now found a home with Lionsgate. So, what do we know about Hurry Up Tomorrow? Scroll on for the details.

What Is The Plot Of Hurry Up Tomorrow?

Plot details for the film have remained under wraps and no official synopsis has been revealed, yet.

What we do know however, is that it will be a psychological thriller which was first conceived by Tesfaye and will serve as an extension of his third album of the same name.

“Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson says of the film. “With ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow,’ in partnership with Trey [Edward Shults], his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.”

Hurry Up Tomorrow Cast & Crew

Currently, Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega (who will also executive produce on the project) and Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan are the only confirmed cast for the film. But, with a lineup like that, we’re certainly not complaining.

Trey Edward Shults (Waves, It Comes at Night) has been attached since the film’s conception, screenwriting and directing the project with co-writing credits also going to Reza Fahim (known for The Idol).

When Will Hurry Up Tomorrow Be Released?

Speculation initially marked Hurry Up Tomorrow for a 2024 release, but as we near the end of the year and with the addition of Lionsgate picking up the film, it’s likely it will fall in 2025.
