These It Girl Inspired Halloween Costumes Are Fake-Blood Free

Pinterest has reported that the search for  “It girl Halloween costumes” is up 170% this year. Why? Some of us see Halloween as a golden moment in the year when we can live out our Poison Ivy fantasies, and some of us see it as an occasion to smugly showcase our niche IYKYK pop culture knowledge. But, for those who don’t feel like dressing up as Moo Deng while dolling up our boyfriends as “men in finance” or living out our Marvel cosplay dreams, Halloween can feel like a fast-fashion-packed obligation. This might be why we’re turning to Charli XCX and Hailey Bieber for Halloween costume inspiration. It’s a sustainable approach that also ticks the “get ready in five minutes box” (Charlie XCX = white singlet without a bra).

They have the benefit of providing instantly recognisable looks, feeling hot and with pieces for your wardrobe you can wear again and again.

So, these are the It-girl looks we’ll be taking inspiration from (and wearing into the New Year) this Halloween.

Our Favourite It-Girl Halloween Costumes

Miss Bieber went viral with her Ermanno Scervino red strapless mini dress back in 2023. The look was 90s perfection with a polished updo, classic “B” pendant and matchy-matchy Ferragamo bag and Maison Ernest heels. Even better? It’s pretty easy to copy. We love an oversized pendant from Mejuri and the Tanya Cut Out Dress from More To Come is a sweet dupe. Accessorise with the Crocs wearing man of your choice.

Charli XCX Halloween Costume

Our brat queen is all about grungy chaos and has one of the more effortless looks to copy because it’s all about not giving a toss. Charli is an outspoken fan of the white tee or braless singlet so pick one up and pair it with micro shorts, boots, second-day hair, and a grungey smokey eye for 365 party girl style.

Want to channel everyone’s favourite short and sweet blonde? May we direct you to our dedicated round-up of Miss Sabrina Carpenter’s best looks for inspiration? With Sabrina Carpenter, it’s all about the micro mini, whether it’s a cinched waist and a flared skirt or a midriff top and platforms. And, of course, her hair and makeup (we happen to have all the details on that front).

Olivia Rodrigo Halloween Costume

Olivia Rodrigo is all about 90s grunge with a pop-punk princess update. Pair your skater skirt with chunky boots or Mary Janes, a slogan tee and a wash of glittery eyeshadow. As fans, we’ve already thought this one through and have her tour wardrobe broken down for you.

Ariana Grande Bunny Costume

You might get fewer wears out of this look, but it’s a Pinterest favourite for a reason. Fortunately, it’s also low-effort. You can add a lacy pair of bunny ears to almost every outfit and pair them with a high ponytail and a short skirt. This pair from Pretty Little Things comes with a black lace veil for a spookier take on her look. Wear it in front or tuck it behind.

Bella Hadid Halloween Costume

Everyone’s favourite It-girl became everyone’s favourite cowgirl in 2024, and Miss Hadid has been seen everywhere in low-slung pants, midriffs, and Cowgirl hats. It’s a chicer, sexier look than Jessie from Toy Story, but no less ripe for a Halloween interpretation. These Lenni the label lace-up pants serve just the right amount of cowgirl when paired with a waistcoat and appropriately oversized hat.
