This Digital Notebook Is A Dream For Stationary Lovers And It’s On Sale For Prime Day

Growing up, there was only one aspect of the back-to-school process that truly made me jazzed: stationary shopping. The satisfaction of cracking open a new notebook and a fresh set of pens and highlighters, or covering my folder and school diary like a scrapbook never failed to thoroughly thrill me.

As an adult, that has manifested in a couple of ways. I’m the kind of person who believes in the power of the perfect notebook, and struggle to start things like productive to-do lists or journalling until I’ve obtained the perfect one. This will look different every time, but a good quality lined notebook that isn’t awkward to write on both sides of the page is the biggest priority. I also need separate notebooks for each task, and would dream of writing my work lists in the same notebook as my holiday packing lists (which are, admittedly, few and far between), and my manifestation journal is near-sacred.

The Kindle Scribe Lineup

I’m someone who never thought I’d accept anything other than the tangible scratch of pen on paper, though I’ve tried in the past. Then I was introduced to the Kindle Scribe. Starting from $729 (or $499 during the current Prime Day sales), it’s a fully digital notebook that allows you to scribble in digital notebooks, your actual books, and PDF documents, making it a good option for work and pleasure.

It also does oddly manage to replicate the feel of writing on paper, with a ‘Premium Pen’ that has a little button on the side to easily flick between settings (like pen and highlight, for example) and a matte textured screen that has a very similar feel to pen-on-paper. Plus, like the rest of the Kindle range, you can also read your favourite books without lugging around your entire TBR pile on a holiday, which is undeniably convenient.

This month, Amazon has also released its upgraded version, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, $999, and though it’s not included in the Prime Day sales, it’s worth a look if you’re interested in the extra few features under the hood. As the name suggests, it has a colour screen, so book covers look crisp and vibrant. It also means you have options when it comes to highlighter colours (there are five) and pen colours (there are 10).

If, like me, you plan to use for Kindle Scribe for both work and play, there are a few features I think are worth pointing out. In your ‘Workspace’, you can create folders and then notebooks within those folders. For me, that might look like creating a folder for work, and then having a separate notebook for my daily to-do lists and each project I’m working on. It also means I can create notebooks for different time periods of journalling, if I’m feeling extra organised.

You can also import documents directly from your Google Drive or OneDrive and then export entire Notebooks to Microsoft OneNote, and create typed summaries of hand-written notes. Basically, it’s like a personal assistant ready to transcribe your every thought at the tap of a screen.

If you’re using the Kindle for pleasure, then I have a few suggestions. You can download colouring books and harness features like the shader pen setting as a mindfulness practice, or annotate the hell out of your novels without worrying about ruining your precious paperbacks.

The original Kindle Scribe is available in two colours, tungsten grey and metallic jade, and is currently 30% off for Amazon Prime Day, which is running until Monday, July 13. If you’d prefer to grab the newer, and more premium model, then I suggest looking into the newer gen Kindle Scribe or the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, but noting the latter two not included in the sale at present.
