The weekend is almost here, and that means a fresh grip of sneaker drops is upon us. This week, two pairs stand out above the rest. Unsurprisingly, both are collaborations. Slightly more surprising? Both come to us via the City of Light. (That’s Paris, y’all.) The first comes via the French label Casablanca and New Balance, while the second is courtesy of the ongoing partnership between Ronnie Fieg’s Kith and Nike.
Casablanca’s New Balance 327.
This isn’t the first time either of these squads have reamed up, either. Last year, Casablanca and New Balance released a duo of sneakers to much fanfare—two takes New Balance’s new-old 327, to be precise. The runner is only a year old, but it looks like something straight out of the 1970s. We mean that in the best way: it’s got a retro silhouette with a nubby rubber sole and a chunky heel that is topped off with an oversized logo on the upper.
And the 237.
Courtesy of New BalanceThis time around, Casablanca designer Charaf Tajer has remixed that same silhouette (alongside a newer style, the 237) in a similar fashion. Both sneakers get dressed up in the French label’s jacquard monogram, with a perforated upper and subtle trim details in soft bubblegum pink and bright kelly green rounding out the design. The duo of kicks is set to drop via the Casablanca website on February 27.
Kith’s new Air Force 1.
The Paris-inspired collaboration between Kith and Nike isn’t quite as colorful, but it’s about as covetable. This sneaker celebrates the grand opening of the newest branch of Fieg’s still-growing streetwear empire, in—you guessed it—Paris. Accordingly, the beloved (and quintessentially New York) Air Force 1 borrows the colors of France’s flag. A tiny Nike Swoosh on the upper gets stitched in blue and red, and the French colors fill out other parts of the mostly white silhouette. There is also a “Kith Air” monogram that sits on the back heel. The only way to snatch this one is by visiting the new shop directly, but it’s safe to say you’ll see these—and both of the Casablanca kicks, too—pop up on the aftermarket with exorbitant prices in the weeks to follow.
